Be it known that I, WALDo M. KREIDLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hornellsville, in the county of Steuben andv The invention aims to construct a label-v holder particularly adapted for holding phar; macists gummed labels and which is extremely simple in its construction, strong, durable, efficient in its use, comparatively inexpensive to manufacture; and to this end it consists of the novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more specifically described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and particularly pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.

In describing the invention in detail reference is had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, wherein like numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which- Figure 1 is a top plan view of the drawer or tray. Fig. 3 is a similar section Fig. 4 is a detail view of the follower-plate, one of Whichis mounted in each of the compartments of the tray; and Fig. 5 is a perspective view showing the drawers or trays Within a casing, the lower drawer projecting out of the casing.

The label-holder is preferably constructed of a case with a pair of drawers or trays, the latter carrying the labels, although the number of `drawers or trays may be increased or diminished, as desired, and when a single drawer or tray is used the case may be dispensed'with. For illustration I have shown a case provided with a pair of drawers orV trays, and as each of the drawers or trays is constructed in the same manner but one will' be described, as such description appertains to the other drawer or tray.

Referring to the drawings by reference-numerals," 1 denotes the case, having anopen front end and a supporting-strip 2 of suitable width extending approximately centrally'of the open front end of the case and at each lend suitably secured in the sidewalls of the case. As shown, each of the drawers or trays are provided with a pair of knobs or handles 6.

As before stated, each drawer or tray is con- 7o structed in asimilar-manner. Therefore only one will be described, as the same reference characters denote corresponding parts in the two drawers or trays. The drawer or tray is constructed with a front wall 7, to which the knobs or handles 6 are attached, a pair of side walls 8, a rear wall 9, and a bottom 10.` The front and rear walls are suitably connected to the sido walls, and the bottom is suitably connected to the side walls. of the front wall '7 is cut awayto form a shoulder or ridge 11, and the top ofA each of the side Walls is also cut away to form a shoulder or ridge 12. The drawer or tray is divided by aseries of longitudinally-extending partitions 13 into a series of parallel compartments, eachr lof which is divided by a series of horizontallyextending partitions 14 into a series of rectangular compartments. By dividing the drawer o r tray with the partitions 13 and 14 9o a series of parallel rows of rectangular compartments are provided. Mounted upon each of thehorizontally-extending partitions 13 is an elongated strip of material 15, which is secured to the top edge of the partitions 13 and 95 extends at one end upon the shoulders yor ridge 11, as well as being secured thereto, and at their opposite end extends upon the top edge of the rear wall 9 and is suitably connected thereto.

The strips 15 and 16 form stops for a purpose hereinafter described.

Within each of the rectangular compartments formed by the partitions 13 and 14 and side walls 8 is a coil compression-spring 17, engaging at its lower end the upper face of the bottom 10 and at its upper end connected to the follower-plate 18. The labels 19-that is, a package of the labels-are adapted to be mounted upon the upper face of the plate 18, and as the spring 17 normally tends to force the plate 18 upward the labels will be clamped between the projecting portions of the strips 15 and 16, the extending portions of the strips 15 and 16 forming thereby stops for the Vertical movement of the plates 18\ and securely retaining the labels in position until removed by pressing downward slightly upon them and then with one nger drawing one end of the label from beneath its respective projecting portion of the strips 15 or 16, and when this end is released all that is necessary is to pull the label from beneath the opposite strip 15 or 16, as the case may be.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it will be evident that I have devised a simple, inexpensive, and novel form of labelholder for pharmacists use and one that can be readily set up, as well as retain the gum med labels to prevent them sticking together within their respective compartments until y j it is desired to use them, owing to the fact that the labels are held so closely together that moisture will not come in contactwith the adhesivesurface thereof, and it will also be evident that I have constructed a labelholder which will hold any number of different labels and a large quantity of each of the labels, so that it will not be necessary to repeatedly supply the compartments, and it will, furthermore, be noted that changes, variations, and modications may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages, and l therefore do not wish to restrict myself to the details of construction hereinbei'ore described and as shown in the accompanying drawingsybut reserve the right to make such changes, variations, and modications as come properly within the scope of the protection prayed.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

A label-holder comprising a drawer or tray constructed of front, rear, side walls' and a bottom, said side and front walls provided with a ledge and the top edge of said rear wall lying lFlush with the ledges of the side walls, aseries oflongitudinally-extendingpartitions suitably spaced apart and arranged lwithin said drawer with their ends engaging the inner face of the said side walls, a series of horizontally extending partitions arranged between each pair of the longitudinally-extending partitions and between the rear and front walls andthe outer of said partitions of said series of longitudinally-extending partitions,said horizontally-extendin g partitions in connection with said longitudinally-extending partitions and the walls of the drawer forming a series of parallel rows of rectangular compartments, a strip of suitable material secured upon the top edge of each of said horizontally-extending partitions and upon the top edge of said rear wall and the ledge of the front wall, said strips of material projecting from each side of said horizontallyextending partitions and Aforming stops, a strip of suitable material secured upon the ledge of each of the side walls and of such width as to project therefrom and upon the ends of the longitudinally-extending partitions forming thereby stops, said strips of material forming pairs of stops for each of the said rectangular compartments and extending the entire width of the said compartments, and a spring-pressed follower-plate mounted in each of the rectangular compartments and adapted to have its vertical movement arrested by the said stops.
