SUSPENDERS.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 728,025, dated May 12, 1903.
I Application filed January 13, 1903. Serial No. 138,804. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HEINRICH LUDWIG AL- BIN SEIDEL, a citizen of Germany, and a resident of Hamburg, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Suspenders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improved suspenders which are so constructed that they will readily adjust themselves to the position of the wearer and will thus equalize the strain.
The accompanying drawing represents a front view of my improved suspenders.
The letters I) represent the shoulder-straps of a pair of suspenders, provided with suitable slides or buckles b, by means of which their length may be adjusted. At their lower front ends the straps b are doubled around frames 0, carrying rollers c. rollers 0 runs a common cord a, provided midway between the rollers with an eye or buttonhole g. This eye is adapted to engage a button It on the front center line of the trousers. Each of the two outer ends of cords a is provided with a frame (1, carrying a roller 01. Over each of the rollers 01 runs a tab 6,
Over the two having at each end an eye or buttonhole f. These eyes are adapted to engage the usual front trousers-buttons 'r' '5.
Any uneven strain on the shoulder-straps b will cause the cord at to run over rollers c and the tabs 6 to run over rollers d, so that the equilibrium is at once reestablished.
What I claim isl. In suspenders, an equalizing device comprising a cord a, passing over rollers c, c, fixed to shoulder-straps b, b, and fastened to a button at the middle of the front part of the trousers, said cord a, carrying rollers d, d, for the tabs e, e, substantially as specified.
2. In suspenders, a pair of shoulder-straps combined with a cord engaging the same and having an inner eye, rollers carried by the outer ends of the cord, and tabs having a pair of eyes and engaged by the rollers, substantially as specified.
Signed by me at Hamburg, Germany, this 27th day of December, 1902.
