To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, WILLIAM J. TONAHILL, Jr., a citizen of the United States, residing at Palestine, in the county of Anderson and State of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hose-Supporters, of which the following is a specification.

This invention is an improved hose supporter or garter, the object of the invention bein to provide an improved article of this kin whlch grips the entire sock, around the leg, prevents the possibility of sagging, insures a perfect fit on the leg of the wearer and serves to equalize the stress on the sock and hence adds greatly to the durability of the sock and avoids straining the sock out of shape.

The invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of devices hereinafter described and claimed.

In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of a hose supporter and garter constructed and arranged in accordance with my-invention, and showing the same in use.

Figs. 2 and 3 are detailed views of the same.

My improved hose supporter or garter comprises a pair of bands 1, which are preferably made of elastic material and are arranged parallel with each other, and also comprises a strap 2 which connects the bands together at one end. The strap is here shown as doubled to provide two folds and between the folds of the strap and stitched or otherwise secured thereto is a bar 3 which is provided at the ends with eyes or rings 4:, said eyes or rings being arranged on the said ends of the bands and stitched or otherwise secured thereto. Each band 1 is doubled and provided with a buckle 5 or analogous device for adjusting the length of the band and each band is also provided at the doubled or free end with a clasp 6 which has a tongue 7 to engage one of the eyes a and the frame of which clasp also has a slot 7 through which the bight of the band passes, so that the clasps permit the longitudinal adjustment of the bands.

Preferably the bar with its eyes; the adjusting buckles and the clasps are made of celluloid but the same may be made of any suitable material.

My improved hose supporter or garter is worn with both of its hands around the leg and at the upper portion of the leg of the sock, so that the sock is gripped entirely around the leg, is fitted perfectly, and is not subjected at any point to undue stress, the stress on the sock being equally distributed around the leg so that the durability of the stock is greatly increased and there is no tendency to pull or strain the sock out of sha e at any point.

hile I have herein shown and described a preferred form of my invention, I would have it understood that changes may be made in the form, proportion and construction of the several parts, without departing from the spirit of my invention and within the scope of the appended claim.

Having thus described my invention, I claim I A hose support comprising two hands, a

strap connecting the bands at one of the ends thereof and comprising two connected members, the outer member being of a less length than the inner member, a bar received between the inner and outer members of the strap, said bar having its ends formed with eyes and the said eyes being arranged outward of the ends of the outer fold of the strap and against the ends of the inner fold of the strap, each of the bands having its free end adjustably connected and provided at said ends with a clamp having an inturned tongue, and the tongues of the re spective. clamps designed to engage in the respective eyes of the bar to connect the bands.
