TOILET-FIXTURE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 711,970, dated October 28, 1902.

To all whom, it may concern:

Be it known that I, LOUIS M. HOOPER, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Rutherford,in the county of Bergen and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Toilet-Fixture, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

Myinvention relates to an improvement in toilet-fixtures designed for holding glasses,

1o soap-dishes, or other articles of this character, and comprises the novel features which will be hereinafter described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying 1 5 drawings, forming a part of this specification,

in which similar characters of referenceindicate corresponding parts in 'both the figures.

Figure 1 is an elevation of my invention embodied in a fixture having only a single holder. Fig. 2 is a front elevation of myinvention embodied in a fixture containing three holders, the center piece of one holder being shown in section.

Myinvention is particularly adapted for use aboard ships, as it holds the articles placed therein securely, but is of course adapted for use in any other situation desired.

The holder proper consists of a center piece from which radiate a series of spring-arms,

said arms curving upwardly and inwardly to engage the glass or other article to be held and then curving outwardly at their tips for convenience in inserting the glass or other article. The center piece consists of a body portion B, which, in connection with the clamping plate or nut C, is provided with means for holding the spring-arms D so that they will not turn. The means herein shown consists of sockets formed in the body-piece 0 B and connected, by means of radiating grooves, with the periphery thereof. The arms D have their inner ends turned downwardly, so as to enter the sockets in the center piece B and then to lie in the grooves ra- 5 diating from said sockets. As herein shown, the grooves in the piece B are made only of such a depth as to receive half of the arms D, thesecuring plate or nut 0 being provided with registering grooves which accommodate hole in the center piece is sufficiently large,

at least in its upper portion, to receive the interiorly-threaded sleeve on the lower side of the securing plate or nut O.

In assembling the parts of the holder the ends of the arms D are placed each in their respective sockets and the securing-plate O placed over them. The holder is then turned as a nut, so as to screw it upon the threaded end of the arm A until the parts are drawn securely together.

The supporting-arm Amay be of any shape desired. In Fig. 1 it has simply a plain upward bend near its outer end, while in Fig. 2 the two outside arms havea side bendin addition to the upward bend. The inner ends of these arms are adapted to be secured in any convenient manner to any object desired. In Fig. 2 the ends of these arms are shown as secured to a common base E. V

The supporting-arms D may be made of such length and shape as may be necessary to securely hold the desired article. The central arm in Fig. 2 is shown as having the upwardly-extending portions. of said arms relatively short, the same being designed for holding a soap-dish, while the other holders are designed for holding the glasses. The holder may also be supported otherwise than upon an arm such as the arm A shown.

Having thus fully described 'my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A glass or bottle holder, comprisinga base provided with apertures, arms supported by the base and rising therefrom at the apertures thereof, and a cap secured to the base and provided with notches fitted over the lower portions of the said arms.
