WILLIAM JAMES TRANTER, or TIPTON, ENGLAND.
BRUSH-HANDLE HOLDER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 692,739, dated February 4, 1902.
To all whom it rncty concern:
Be it known that LWILLIAM JAMES TRAN- TER, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at 13 Neptune street, Tipton, Staffordshire, England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Brush-Handle Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in brush-handle holders; and the object of my invention is to provide an adjustable clamping device for attachment to.the stock of the brush and which is also adapted to receive the handle. I attain this object by themechanism illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure 1 is a frontviewofthe holder'as applied to a brush. Fig. 2 is an end view of the holder. Fig. 3 is avertical section of the holder on the line 1 2., Fig. 1.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
A is the brush back or block, and B the handle, a short portion of which only is shown.
The clamping devicecomprises two parts 0 and D, which aresecured to each other by hinge-joint E. Theshape of these parts may vary according to the shape of the back or block. At the outer ends of the parts 0 and D are claws F, which take hold underneath the sides of the stock and are held there. This may be done by means of the screw-pin G, which when screwed down, as shown in Fig. 2, forces the hinge-joint upward and inso doing draws the claws tightly underneath thestock, thereby rigidly securing the clip to the said stock. It would be obvious thatinstead of the hinge-joint I may provide the slot-hole .H (see Fig. 4) and the binding-screw I for the What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A brush-handle holder, comprising a clamp ing device formed of two sections 0 and D, means for hinging the said sections together,
a claw integral with the free end of each of the sections and extending at right angles thereto, a screw-pin extending through the section 0 and engaging the block or back of the brush for clamping the sections thereto,
means forming a socket integral with the sec tion 0 and adapted to receive the brush-ban die, and a binding-screw extending in the socket for securing the brush-handle therein.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM JAMES TRANTER.
