SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 673,458, dated May a',v 1901.
Application filed April 3. 1900.
To a/ZZ whom it may concern,.-
Beit known that I, ROBERT D. SMITH, a citizen of the United States of America, residing and having post-oftice address at Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Guard-Casters, of which the followingis a description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure l is an elevational view of parts ernbodying said improvement. Fig. 2 is a View in horizontal section of the parts shown .in Fig. 1, the plane of the section being denoted by the dotted line zo.
The object of the improvement is the production of a caster adjustable in position and having a rotary peripheral guard.
In the accompanying drawings the letter a denotes a part of any structure to Which it may be desirable to attach a device such as is herein described.
The letter b denotes a base for the attachment thereto of the guard-caster, that part b being in shape like a dovetailed tenon and {itting into a correspondingly-dovetailed mortise in the structure a, this for the purpose of giving the whole device vertical adjust- Serial No. 11,341. (No model.)

In operation the Wheel f rests upon a floor or the like, and the Wheel cis intended as a guard in striking against a vertical surface.
I claim as my improvementl. In combination; the caster-wheel f journaled on lthe sleeve d; the sleeve CZ jou'rnaled on the bolt e; and the guard-Wheel c rotarily hung to the part d.
2. In combination; the caster-Wheel f journaled on the sleeve d; the sleeve d journaled on the bolt e; the guard-Wheel c rotarily hung to the part d; and the movable part b supporting the bolt e.
