TO ALL WliUMl'l MAY'CONCERN:
Be it known that I, B. S. BOYDSTON, of Richmond, in the county of Wayne, and in the State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Bag or SaclvI'Ioldei-s; and do hereby declare that the followingis a full, clear,'and exact description thereof, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, and i i to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
In the annexed drawings, A represents a platform having a vertical standard, I, with a narrow slot, at, at its upper end. To this standard is secured the faced board B, which is provided with a screw, a, at its centre and back, which passes through the slot :0, and is thereunto connected by means of the nut b and washer c to the standard I. It will be seen by means of the slot in the said standard and the set-screw in the board B, that the board may be stationed either high or low, for the purposes more fully hereafter set forth. C represents a semicircular metallic hoop, with a. series of spurs, d at (1, upon its outer face. This hoop is secured ,upon the board B by means of suitable keepers, m m, through which the ends of said hoop are passed, and are .thence bent around the back of the board. This hoop can be drawn further to the rear or pushed more to the front of the board for regulating it to the size of the'bag-mouth. D represents the ordinary bag, which is hooked into the spurs upon the hoop, and additionally attached to the face of the board B by means of the hooks t it. When thus connected, the mouth of the bag is held open, with the bottom resting upon the platform, as regulated, by means of the slot and setscrew heretofore described.
Having thus fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The metallic hoop C, with its spurs, when secured to the adjustable board B, by means of the'kcepers m m, in such a manner as to be contracted or expanded to suit the mouth of the bag, as specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing, I have hereunto set my hand this 6th day of April, 1867.
BENJAMIN S. BOYDSTON.
