- my invention consists in a combination of coal or gas tar, ,in proportions four to six quarts, mineral paint one quart, and pulverized lime-stone, (unburned,) made by sewing stone, (with an iron saw and sharp sand,) which will contain pulverized sharp sand and iron mixed with the 'stone-lime dust, (or the same ingredients produced in any other way,) sixteen quarts. These are mixed together in the proportions before stated, (or nearly 50,) and'spread with a trowel or brush upon felt paper, a sample of which is sent herewith, marked D. This composition is put on from one-fourth of an inch thick, to one-half of an inch thick, a.nd will stand the water immediately, and hardens with age, so a person can walk upon the roof in three or four weeks.

Letters Patent No. 60,037, dated November 27, 1866.
SPECIFICATION- TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: I
- Be it known that I, SOLOMON B. MOORE, in the county of Niagara,,in the State of New York, have invented a Cement or Composition for roofing purposes and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exa et description thereof, and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of my invention consists in a combination of coal or gas tar, ,in proportions four to six quarts, mineral paint one quart, and pulverized lime-stone, (unburned,) made by sewing stone, (with an iron saw and sharp sand,) which will contain pulverized sharp sand and iron mixed with the 'stone-lime dust, (or the same ingredients produced in any other way,) sixteen quarts.
