I TAG CLASP. No. 600,140. Patented-Mar. 8,1898;
VV'ILnesses. Inventor.
A110 rney.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SIMON DANOYGER, OF DAYTON, OHIO.
TAG-C LAS P.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 600,140, dated March 8, 1898.
Application filed August 24, 1895. Serial No. 560,336. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, SIMON DANOYGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dayton, in the county of Montgomery and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Tag Clasps; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to improvements in tag-clasps, the features of which will be fully hereinafter described and claimed.
The invention consists in forming a tagclasp of a single piece of wire bent centrally to form a loop, also spring-arms between the loop and the ends of the wire, the free ends bent inwardly on different planes to form hooks and arranged to lap each other in such manner that when inserted in the material and pulled the arms will close. The said free ends will also close at the same time and engage the material and strengthen each other against strain; but while the arms close toward each other the free ends form a lock to prevent accidental disengagement from the cloth.
The object is the attachment of a paper tag to articles of merchandise, and which is held Within the central loop.
The construction 'is illustrated in the accompanying drawing.
The figure shows a side'view of the de- V106.
The numerals designate the several parts.
The device comprises the central loop 16, the arms bent at 17 and 18, the resiliency of which forms springs, the free ends being bent at their extremities to form hooks, they also being bent at different planes to overlap and diverge in such manner that the points 19 and 20 will engage the material and when pulled will spread and form a lock against accidental disengagement from the cloth or other material to which they may be fastened.
Having fully described my invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent is As an article of manufacture a tag-clasp consisting of a single piece of wire, bent centrally to form a loop and also spring-arms between the loop and the ends of the wire, the spring of said arms normally drawing them together, the free ends bent inwardly on different planes to form hooks, and arranged to lap each other in such manner that when insorted in the material and pulled, the said free ends will close and engage the material and strengthen each other against strain, substantially as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I aftix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
SIMON DANOYGER.
