SEEGIFICATION i'erming part of Letters Patent No 356,772, dated February l, 1887. Application tiled November 23, 1886. Serial No. M9543, (No model.)
To ZZ when@ it 'mln/y concern:
Be it known tiiet I, ERNEST MARX, of the city of Brooklyn, county of Kings, and State of New York, here invented e. new and useful Improvement in Buckles, of which the following is o specification.
illy invention relates i0 a new bnelile for use on Suspenders and other articles of personel weer; and it consists in the eonstrnetion more particularly hereinafter set forth.
In the aeeoinpanying drawings, Figure l is e iront View of niyimproved buckle, and Fig. 2 is e section en the line :c a: of Fig. l. l
Similar letters of rei'erenee indicate like parte.
A represents the frame of the buckle, which l ina-lie of e. single piece of metal, preferably wire, suitably bent. The ends of the Wire forming the ironie are turned inn-ord at B end pointed. Aeross the freine A is e fixed lier, C.
D is n. frame, which may be struck up or otherwise produced from sheet metal. At the sides oi' said frame are projections E, which are turned or bent so es to surround loosely the side bers, F, oi' the freine A. The freine D therefore slides upon the seid bers E of the freine A. In the upper erossbar, G, of frame D are formed holes through ,which the pointed ends B pass.
In use the strep or suspender (indicated by netted lines in the flrewings) is passed through the opening in the freine D, and thence back through the opening between the lower bar of frame D and the fixed bnr C. Any strain` upon the strap new tends to slide the freine D upward on the side liars, F, of freine A, and in this wey the pointed ends B of the wire forming frame A are caused to enter the ine.- terial of the strep and tightly hold the saine. In order to (lisengege the strap, it is necessary simply to pull down on its extremity, when the frame D slides downward and the strap is thus removed from lie pointed ends B.
I claiml. The combination of the freine A, formed of e single piece of metal with its extremities inwardly turned to produce the points B, and e sliding metal freine, D, substantially es described.
2. The combination of the freine A', made of e single piece of metal with its extremities turned inward to forni the points B, and the sliding metal freine D, provicled with projee` tions E, surrounding and freely moving on the side bars of seid freine A, substantially as deseribe.
3. The combination of the frame A, formed of a single pieoe of metal with its extremities inwardly turned to produce the points B, the bar C, fixed in said freineand the sliding freine D, substantially as described.
ERNEST MARX.
