Description

J. HOLLINGER;
Cultivator.
' Patented Sept. 4, 1866.
Inf/6752272' UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
JACOB HOLLINGER, OF MILLERSBURG, OHlO.
IMPROVEM ENT IN CULTIVATORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 57,719, dated September 4, 1866.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, JAcoB HOLLINGER, of Millersburg, in the county of Holmes and State of Ohio, have invented new and useful Improvements in Oulti'vators; and I do hereby declare that the following is afull and complete description of the construction and operation of the same, reference bein g had to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification, in which- Figuie l is a side view, Fig. 2 is a top View, and Fig. 3 is a rear View.
Like letters refer to like parts in the several views.
A represents the main or central beam. This is made of wrought-iron, the bar being of the length and size suited to the size of the cultiVator--say iive feet long, two inches wide,
and three-quarters of an inch thick. A hole is made in the forward end for the clevis, as at c, and the hind vend is turned into the form of a loop,for the purpose of securing the curved cross-bars B B, to which the rear shovels are l attached. The inner ends of these bars are curved inward and upward, and are provided with holes b b for a Wider or narrower adjustment upon the bolt Z1'. The forward share, C,
is secured to the beam A by means of a screwclamp, which embraces both the beams and standard C.
The curved bars B are supported at their outer curves by side braces, D D, the forward ends of which are bolted to the beam A at D', as shown at Figs. l and 2, and the rear ends of these braces are provided with a series of holes, d d, for longitudinal adjustment.
The handles E E are bolted to the beam A just back of the standard O', and are each supported in the rear by braces F F. The braces D have elasticity suicient' to allow of the expansion and contraction of the rear share, B B.
What I claim as my improvement, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
'lhe herein-described construction of culti Vaters, consisting of the beam A, curved bars B B, braces D, shares O B B', and handles E, the several parts being constructed, arranged, and operating as and for the purpose set forth.
J AOOB HOLLINGER.
