H. J. GEER.
DISPLAY STAND FOR BILLS 0P FARE.
No. 564,785. Patented July 28, I896.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY J. GEER, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
DISPLAY-STAND FOR BILLS OF FARE.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 564,785, dated July 28, 1896.
Application filed January 3,1896- Serial No. 574,276, (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY J. GEER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence,in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Display-Stands for Bills of Fare; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
The special object of the invention is to make a convenient display-stand for the bills of fare which are placed upon the tables of hotels and restaurants, the same being made of metal, so as to present a bright and attractive appearance; but they may be made of any suitable material.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a perspective view of my display-stand as an entirety, and Fig. 2 a detail view of one of the fare-frames.
In the drawings, A represents the body or main frame of my stand, which is preferably made rectangular and consists of an outer and inner portion a a. The outer portion a is provided with the handle a for convenient manipulation at the top, and at the bottom with the pedal extremities a a the latter constructed so as to give a backward incline to the stand. The inner portion a has an interior groove (L in which photographs, pictures, or a mirror may be placed. Between the outer and inner portions a a are arranged the eyes a at top and bottom, in which turn the wire frames B B, so that the latter will rest when flung open against the portion a and when closed against the portion a of the body A.
The frames B are each formed of a single wire bent into rectangular form and provided with the guides in which the bills of fare are secured. These bills of fare can be quickly attached thereto or detached therefrom for replacement by others, as the upper guides are open bifurcated clips, while the lower ones consist of parallel strips arranged diagonally across the bottom corners, so that the lower ends of the fare-bills will be supported by the bottom round of the frames.
Having thus described all that is necessary to a full understand in g of my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to protect by Letters Patent, is e A display-stand for bills of fare, having a main frame with the inner portion a, outer portion a and intermediate eyes a and with the two wire frames B turning in said eyes so as to rest on the portions a a in the manner described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HENRY J. GEER.
