BERTHA A. TRUFANT, OF NEV ORLEANS, LOUISIANA.
TOY PIANO.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 537,734, dated April 16, 1895.
Application filed January 15,I 1895. Serial No. 535,013. (N0 model.)
To @ZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it knownthat I, BERTHA A. TRUFANT, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans and State of Louisiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvement in Toy Pianos for Doll Furniture, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a toy-piano for dollfurniture and my improvements consists in novel features of construction hereinafter described and claimed.
In order that my invention may be fully understood I will proceed to describe it with reference to the accompanying drawings,'in which-Y Figure I is a blank for my improved toypiano for doll-furniture. Fig. II is a front view ofthe toy-piano produced from the blank. Fig. III is a vertical transverse section of the toy piano on the line III-III Fig. II.
The blank for the toy-piano is printed, lithographed or otherwise decorated and is formed with a back 1, a top 2, a music panel 3, a fall board 4, a name strip 5, a key-board 0, a key-frame 7, a key-bed 8, a pedal panel 9 and sides 10 having legs 10. The toy-piano is constructed from this blank as follows: The top is folded down on the dotted line 11. The sides 10 have top laps 10b separated from the top 2 by slits 12. These laps are folded down on the dotted lines 13 and the sides are folded with their laps toward the front on the dotted lines 14. bringing the top laps 10b beneath the top where they are secured.
The music panel 3 is provided with side laps 3a which are folded inward on the dotted lines 15 and the music panel with its laps is folded down into a vertical position on the dotted line 1G and its laps brought between the sides 10 beneath the top laps 10b. The fall board 4 is folded slightly outward on the dotted line 17 into an inclined position. The' name strip 5 is folded into vertical position on the dotted line 18. The key-board Gis provided with laps (5fL which are folded inward on the dotted lines 19 and thekey-board with its laps is folded to a horizontal position on the dotted lines 2O so as to bring the laps between the legs where they are secured. The key-frame 7 is folded down on the dotted line 21. The key-bed 8 is folded inward toahorizontal position under the key-frame on the dotted line 22. The pedal panel 9 is pro-A vided with laps 9 which are folded inward on the lines 23 and the pedal panel with its laps is folded inward on the dotted line 24 to a position between the sides where it is secured by its laps.
The blank may be decorated in any suitable Inanner to represent an upright piano or parlor organ. In the latter case stops would be represented on the name strip.y
The blank may be printed on a sheet to be cut out by the purchaser or user.
The blank may be printed with advertising matter or decorated in any suitable manner to form birthday, Christmas, New Years, or Easter cards, rbc. The blank may also be formed in one or more pieces if desired.
I-Iaving thus described my invention, the following is what I claim as new therein and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A blank for a toy-piano for doll furniture of the shape substantially as shown and described.
2. A toy-piano for doll furniture made from a blank of the shape substantially as shown and described.
BERIHA A. TRUFANT.
