JOHN WEINHEIMER,
PATENT OFFICE.
oF sYRAoUsE, NEW 'YoRK, ASSIGNOR TO HATTIE L.
WEINHEIMER, OF SAME PLACE.
MOTH-PROOF BAG.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 522,542, dated J uly 3, 1894. Application filed September 19,1893. Serial No. 485,380. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOHN WEINHEIMER, of Syracuse, in the county of Onondaga, in the State-of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Moth-Proof Bags, of which the following, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, is afull, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to moth-proof bags as anew article of manufacture' For some time there has been a demand for a moth-proof bag provided with means for'suspending it, for suspending garments within it, and suitable, easy and convenient means for closing the opening after it has been filled. My object, therefore, is to provide such a bag, cheap, durable and of great utility. And to that end myinvention consists in the several new and'novel features and combination of parts hereinafter described and which are specifically set forth -in the claim hereunto annexed. Itis constructed as follows, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- I Figure 1, is a side view of the bag, complete. Fig. 2, is a top plan View :thereof. Fig. 3, is an enlarged'side view, one side of the bag being broken away showing the interior arrangemerit of hooks. Fig. 4, is ,a part of a cross section through one side, and the fastening device; p
A, is a paper bag of any suitable and well known construction, having around its upper and inner edge a reinforcement aof cloth or other suitable material for the purpose of giving it strength.
b, is a layer of preferably tar-paper or other material, saturated with some moth -proof compound; and -c-- are strips of wood or other material, one of which is secured preferably permanently to one side of the bag, and provided with means for securing the opposite one side of V the bag and provided with means for securing the opposite one upon the opposite side of the upper end of the bag so as to bring the tar-paper together and closing the opening. The strips 0, on'opposite sides of the mouth of the bag are connected by transverse bolts. (1, is a hook secured to one end of these strips or bars for the purpose of suspending it where desired.
e, are hooks secured to the bars or strips within the bag upon which the garments may be hung, thereby preventing them from being wrinkled, as is now the case where garments are rolled up and inserted into a bag.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-' 7 A moth proof receptacle consisting of a bag having its inner edges reinforced by a strip or layer of moth proof material, strips arranged on opposite sides of the mouth of the bag and one of which is provided with inwardly extending pins, hooks supported by said pins, securing bolts extending through the strips and across the mouth of the bag, and a hook attached to one of the strips outside of the bag, substantially as shown and described. i In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 15th day of September, 1893.
JOHN WEIN'HEIMER.
In presence of- G. W. SMITH,
HOWARD P. DENIsoN.
