The object of the present invention is to improve the construction of necktie presses and collar boxes and to provide a simple, practical and inexpensive necktie press adapted to be readily applied to a collar box or similar receptacle and capable of efiiciently pressing neckties and of affording access to the box or receptacle without removing the neckties or disturbing the arrangement of the same.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the construction and novel combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the claim hereto appended, it being understood that various changes in the form, proportion and minor details of con-- struction may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
In the drawing Figure 1 is a perspective view of a combined necktie press and collar box constructed in accordance with this invention, Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of the same, Fig. 3 is an enlarged detail sectional View of the front portion of the necktie press, Fig. 1 is a transverse sectional view of the same showing a plurality of the pockets or recesses for the necktie receiving flaps or members.
Like numerals of reference designate corresponding parts in the several figures of the drawing.
In the accompanying drawing in which is illustrated the preferred embodiment of the invention, 1 designates'a collar'box pref: erably of rectangular form but a box of any other shape and of any desired size may of course be employed and the box or receptacle may be employed for holding articles other than collars.
Hinged to the body 1 of the box at the back thereof-is a lid 2 having front and side flanges 3 and 4 and carrying a hinged tray 5 connected at the back to the side flanges 4 by a pivot 6 or other suitable hinge element. The tray which is adapted to fit within the flanges 3 and 4 of the lid and be supported upon the upper edges of the body of the boX is provided with a plurality of pockets or recesses 7 preferably extending longitudinally of the tray 5 and connected at their front ends to the tray at the said recesses or pockets 7 are hinged flaps or necktie receiving members 8. Any suitable hinge'9 may be employed for mounting the necktie receiving flaps or members 8 on the tray 5 and the said flaps or members which are arranged in spaced relation are adapted to have neckties wrapped around them so that the neckties will be pressed between the tray and the lid when the parts are closed as illustrated in Fig. 2 of the drawing. The tray is detachably secured within the lid by spaced catches 10 preferably mounted on the front flange 3 at the inner face thereof and engaging the tray at the front thereof and the tray is preferably provided at the un der side with a suitable handle 11 to enable the tray and the lid to be separated. Also the body of the box is designed to be provided with a suitable catch 12 -for engaging the lid. 7
l/Vhat is claimed is A necktie press of the class described including a tray provided with a plurality of pockets or recesses, necktie receiving flaps or members, hinged to the tray at the pockets or recesses and adapted'to have neckties wrapped around them, said flaps or members with the neckties thereon being also adapted to swing into the said pockets or recesses and a hinged lid or cover connected with the tray and adapted to press neckties between it and the said tray.
In testimony whereof I aflix my-signature in presence of two witnesses.
