WATER-CLOSET SEAT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 512,955, dated January 16, 1894. Application filed January 5, 1893. Serial No, 457,335. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, THoMAs GRACE, of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Water-Closet Seats, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a plan view of my improved water-closet lid. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of a water closet bowl provided with my improved lid, being shown partially in section on line 11-41 of Fig. 3. Fig. 3 is a partial rear elethe seat has members 5, 6, of which the member 5 is adapted to be fixed to the seat, while the member 6 is a clamp collar, divided as shown, preferably lined with an interior rubber gasket, and having a screw 7, or other means, by which it maybe compressed. The collars 6 are fitted around the projections 4 on the bowl, and are clamped thereto. The hinges are thus supported and held in a very convenient and effective manner,afiordi ng an open structure conforming in principle to the best rules of sanitary plumbing.
The advantages of my invention will be appreciated by those skilled in the art.
I claim- 1. A water-closet seat or lid having ahinge, whose lower member is provided with a clamp collar arranged to encircle a vent upon the bowl; substantially as described.
2. A water-closet seat or lid having hinges, members of which are provided with clamp collars, in combination with a bowl having rear vents on which the collars are fitted; substantially as described.
3. A water-closet seat, having hinges, members of which are provided with clamp collars, arranged to encircle vents upon the bowl, said collars having an elastic lining; substantially as described.
