UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
GODFREY ROSSBERG, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
BUTTON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 476,076, dated May 31, 1892.
Application tiled November 28. 1891. Serial No.413,4l9. (No model.)
To all whom t may concern.:
Be it known that. I, GODEREY RossBEEG, a citizen ot the United States, residing at Broeklyn, in the county ot' Kings and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Duplex Buttons, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in duplex buttons; and the invention consists in the details of construction set forth in the following specification and claim and illustrated in the annexed drawings, in Which- Figure l is a side elevation of the button. Fig.2 is a face view of Fig. 1. Fig.3 is a face view of a modification.
In the drawings the letter A indicates the body of the button, composed of a flattened plate having two buttoning-hooks B O, projecting in reverse directions from its extremities. By fastening the plate A to a garment D-such as the waistband of pantaloons-.the hook B can be used for securing the suspenders E, While the hook C can be made to engage or hold up an undergarment F,such as a pair of drawers. The plate A can be secured in place by sewing or by eyelets or rivets, and
' for this purpose the plate A has suitable holes or perforations G for the reception of thread, rivets, or eyelets. In Fig. 3 are shown two holes G, and in Fig. 2 are shown four holes. The hook B has a ridge H, forming a partition,
which serves tovkeep the suspender E away from the garment D, so that the garment will not be chafed by the suspender. The hook portions 1-3 C are located away from the holes G, so that the articles held by the hooks will not chate or rub against the thread in the holes G if the button is sewed on, thus avoiding the danger ot' the thread being chafed.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As an improved article of manufacture, the duplex b utton herein shown and described, consisting of the flattened plate A, having at its extremities the two hooks B and C, which project in opposite directions from the tlattened sides ot' the plate in a plane at right angles thereto, said plate adapted to lie fiat against a garment and provided between the hooks With thread-holes G for attaching it to the garment, whereby one hook is adapted to engage the Suspenders, while the other hook is adapted to engage and support the drawers, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GODFREY ROSSBERG.
