Description
PATBNTED JULY 18, 1905.
A. P. & s. F. STEIN. KNEE PANTS WITH GARTER ATTAGHING DEVICE.
APPLICATION FILED NOV. 18, 1904.
/ WIT/ 5555 I Aftorney UNITED STATES Patented July 18, 1905.
PATENT OFFICE.
ABRAM F. STEIN AND SAMUEL F. STEIN, OF \VILLIAMSPORT,
PENNSYLVANIA.
KNEE-PANTS WITH GARTER-ATTACHING DEVICE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 794,895, dated July 18, 1905,
To a whom it minty concern:
Be it known that we, ABRAM F. STEIN and SAMUEL F. STEIN, residents of VVilliamsport, in the county of Lycoming and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Knee-Pants with Garter-Attaching Devices; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
Our invention relates to improvements in knee-pants with garter-attaching devices, the object of the invention being to provide kneepants with means which permit the ready attachment of garters thereto for the convenience that persons buying knee-pants may select garters with the kind of stocking-supporting fasteners they prefer and easily attach them to the inside of the pants, which will save wearing a separate garment to support the garters; and the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts, as will be more fully hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a view in elevation showing a pair of kneepants turned wrong side out, illustrating our improvements; and Figs. 2 and 3 are similar views illustrating modifications.
1 represents a pair ofpants, and 2 illustrates buttons sewed to the seams in the inside of the pants.
3 represents garters having buttonholes therein to permit their ready attachment to buttons 2 and which permit the easy removal of garters when worn and the attachment of new ones. In order to prevent the buttonhole from getting stretched, the end of the webbing where the buttonhole is to be located may be covered with cloth. One button on either of the seams of the trouser-leg will be sufiicient for the use of a twin garter.
In Fig. 2 the pants are provided with several buttons-one on the lower part of the seam, one on the pocket, and one on the waistbandso that garters of various lengths may be attached to the pants. The waistband and pocket may be provided with said buttons before being secured to the pants or after. It is not important that the buttons at the upper part of the leg should be attached to the pocket and waistband, but may be placed at any part of the inside of the pants found most desirable, so as not to disfigure the pants on the outside.
In Fig. 3 a garter band or Webbing is shown passed through loops at the seams and through a loop 4 at the crotch, which makes a verystrong construction. The webbing may be provided with devices at its ends to support the garters or may be without any for the use of garters with fastening devices at their upper ends.
The loop 4 may be formed by the seam-tape at the crotch or may be a separate tape, and the buttons may also be provided on this pair of pants for the attachment of other forms of garters.
Instead of employing buttons, hooks and. eyes or any other form of fasteners might be employed. In fact, any form of devices may be employed which will permit the attachment of garters to pants.
The pants may have all the different forms of attachments described or only one, as may be found desirable to suit the trade.
A great many slight changes might be made in the general form and arrangement of the parts described without departing from our invention, and hence we do not restrict ourselves to the precise details set forth, but consider ourselves at liberty to make such slight changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of our invention.
Having fully described our invention, what we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
l. A new article of manufacture consisting of a pair of pants, provided With a loop at the In testimony whereof We have signed this crotch and loops secured to the leg-seams for specification in the presence of two subscrib- I the passage of a tape. ing Witnesses.
2. The combination of a pair of pants and ABRAM F. STEIN. loops at the crotch and at-the leg-seams to SAMUEL F. STEIN. hold in position a Webbing, and devices at the Witnesses: ends of said Webbing for securing the same D. L. LEVY,
to garters. I T. A. PETERS.
