BOX-STRAP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 451,365, dated April 28, 1891.
Application filed January 16,1891. Serial No. 377,976. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known thatI, HENRY S. BREWINGTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Wire Nails and WVire Straps for Packages; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which itappertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in wire straps and wire nails for packages,which will be hereinafter more particularly described and pointed out.
In the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification,-Figure 1 represents a box with the wire strap applied. Fig. 2 is a perspective View of a wire strap with the fasteners attached. Fig. 3 represents one of the fasteners enlarged.
A is a wire of any size suitable for the package to be secured.
B B, &c., is a series of fasteners made, as
' represented in Figs. 2 and 3, out of one piece of wire, having a circular loop a so formed that when the ends I) b are brought together the orifice 0. will clasp the wire A very tightly, so that the fasteners will retain their places on the wire. Both ends I) b have bevels b b, so formed outside that as the fastener is driven into the wood the ends will be drawn together to close the orifice a, as shown in Fig. 2 at B.
I claim- A binding-strap for packages, consisting of a Wire band and a series of attaching-clamps adjustably secured thereon by encircling eyes or loops, the ends thereof being arranged side by side and beveled on the outer sides at their extremities to form a driving-point, whereby when driven the clamps will be compressed and firmly engage the wire, substantially as described.
