#W/vva UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES K. DEMING, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR TO THE STANDARD LIFE AND ACCIDENT INSURANCE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
TICKET-OAS E.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 436,052, dated September 9, 1890.
Application filed July 18, 1890. Serial No. 359,125. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JAMES K. DEMING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Detroit, in the county of Wayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ticket-Cases, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in ticket-holders; and the invention consists in the peculiar construction, arrangement, and combination of the various parts, all as more fully hereinafter described.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved device. Fig. 2 is a vertical central longitudinal section. Fig. 3 is a cross-section thereof on line a: m.
A is a rectangular box forming the casing. Within this box is secured a frame consisting of the vertical partitions B and connecting side bars C.
The partitions B extend above the top of the box and are provided with inclined overhanging flanges D. Between these partitions are formed the pockets or ticket-spaces E, within which are slidingly secured the plates F, normally held in contact with the under side of the flanges D by the springs G.
The front and rear walls have the apertures H and I formed therein. Above the aperture H is the connecting-bar J, which connects the rear edge of all the partitions.
I preferably make the partitions, side frames, 850., of asingle casting of suitable size to fit Within the box, and I provide the box with a suitable cover K, hinged to the bodyA thereof in any suitable manner. The flanges D are slightly above the top of the box A.
The parts being thus constructed, their op eration is as follows:
To fill the pockets E with tickets, the operator presses down the plate F and inserts the tickets through the aperture 11 on the rear wall. Releasing his hold of the plate F, the tickets are brought to bear with their up per edge against the under side of the flange D. To withdraw a ticket, a slight pressure upon the top will overcome the tension of the spring and allow the operator to pull the ticket through the aperture I at the front edge. The frames being cast integral in one piece, they can be filled with tickets and shipped to any desired point, the tickets used, and the empty frame returned to be refilled. I preferably form a pin a upon the side of each of the plates F, engaging in the slot 1) in the partitions to act as a guide for the plates in their vertical movement.
What I claim as my invention is 1. The combination, with the casing A, of a detachable frame consisting of the vertical partitions B and connecting-walls C, having apertures H and I, the overhanging inclined flanges D, and the spring-actuated plates F, substantially as described.
2. The combination, with the casing A, of the detachable frame consisting of the walls C. the partitions- B, the overhanging inclined flanges D, the apertures H and I, the plates F, 7 having the pins a and the grooves 11 in which said pins engage, the pockets E, and the spring G, the parts arranged to operate substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JAMES K. DEMING.
Witnesses:
