Description
(No Model.) 7 H. KING SHOW CASE. No. 392,125. -Patented 001:. .30, 1888.
WITNESSES; 1 INVENTORI ww 7 Q I B Y ATTORNE N. FEI'ERS. Plwmuxhn m hu. Wishington. n. c.
UNITED STATES FFICEo HENRY KING, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
SHOW=CASE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 392,125, dated October 30, 1888.
Application filed September 4, 1888. Serial No. 284,587.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY KING, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore,in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Show-Cases, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a combined show- A case having a glass-inclosed case for the base.
stand and a shelf-stand supported upon the said base.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which-- Figure l is a perspective front view of the combined case and stand. Fig. 2 is a vertical cross-section of the case and stand. Fig. 3 is a partial rear elevation of the same.
The glass-inclosed case A comprises an ordinary glass pancled case having a door, I), at the rear and a top board, a, which serves as a cover to close the top of the case and as a base for the shelf-stand to be secured to.
The shelves d are supported on standards 0, the tenoned ends of which are secured in the case-top covers 0, and are thus sustained rigidly in their positions. It will thus be seen that the inclosed case A and the open shelf-stand d 0, supported thereon, comprise an integral structure well adapted for the display of goods. The case is suited for cakes, candy, and any goods that are uncovered or unprotected, while the shelf-stand is suited for goods in glass jars or other receptacles which serve to protect the goods.
The standards a of the shelves need not necessarily be constructed, as shown, with their (No model.)
lower ends tenoned and fitted in the board 0. Any kind of standards secured in any way may be used to support the shelves d.
If desired, the shelf-stand may be detached from the case to facilitate its being packed in small compass and transported. The board 0, to which the standards 6 are secured, has a tongue, fiat each end, which occupies a groove, 9, at each end of the case-frame. A bar, h,extends along the case-back and serves as a j amb for'the door I) to shut against, and also serves to receive ascrew, t, by which the said board or case-top cover 0 may be made fast when in its position on the case.
It will thus be seen that the shelf stand may at any time be removed from the case.
Having described my invention, I claim-- 1. The combined glass show-case A, having a top board,c,and a shelf-stand secured on the said top board, for the purpose set forth.
2. The combined glass-caseA and she1f-stand secured to a base board, 0, which serves as a top cover to the case, said base board being detachable from the case.
3. The combined glass show-case A, having grooves, case-top cover 0, having tongues, and shelves supported on standards which are secured to said case-top cover.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
HENRY KING.
