CABINET FOR SANITARY TOILETHPAPER.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 363,379, dated May 24, 1887.

Application filed June 7, 1886. Serial No. 204,404. (No model.)

Be it known that l, WILLIAM FLINT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Cabinets for Sanitary Toilet-Paper, of which the following is a specification.

Cabinets for containing packages of amassed sheets of paper have been constructed with mechanism whereby pressure is exerted to maintain the same continuouslybearingagainst the periphery of a journaled roller during rotation for the expulsion of sheets.

My invention relates to a cabinet for containing sanitary toilet-paper, and it consists of a metallic case or box of rectangular form to be suspended or hung upon the wall of a closet, and provided with a hinged front plate, to the inner face of which is connected a roller, the periphery vof which throughout its length is roughened by means of a coating of emery, smaltz, or equivalent substance; or it may be corrugated or fluted,and having journals upon its ends that have their bearing in curvilinear segmental slots of plates extended back at right angles to said front plate, the periphery of the roller being caused to bear upon the surface of an amassed package of sheets of paper suspended at their upper ends upon holders projected from theinner face of the back plate of the cabinet by means of the resilient pressure of elongated ends or legs of a pair of helical springs, the extremities of which surround circular grooves of said roller at opposite sides of the case, the other ends of the springsbeing confined within orifices of studs cast upon the inner surface oi' the front plate. The amassed package of sheets is suspended upon holders, that are in turn hung upon pins extending at right angles to the rear plate of the cabinetin such position that, as the friction-roller bears upon the surface of the package of sheets and is rotated upon its axis by power imparted to a knob orhand-wheel upon one end said sheets are successively detached from their connecting-hooks and expelled or deliverd through and out of a throat in the lower end of said cabinet, the resiliency contained within the elongations of the springs maintaining a com tinuous pressure of the roller upon the surface of the sheets through vthe slotted bearings until the last of the package is expelled.
