Pmmmd Um, 141- HQW ATTORNEYS DISPLAY APPLIANCE FOR FABRIC BOLTS The bolt holder of this invention provides novel and convenient means for displaying fabric bolts vertically or on the bias, by virtue of convenient, adjustable means for achieving such display at precisely the desired predetermined angles and facilitating insertion and removal of such bolts. The bolt holders of this invention are designed to accommodate double knits, regular bookfolds and other fabric bolts, interengaging means being provided pursuant to the invention for facilitating selective registration and angular alignment of the bolts.
These and other objects of the invention will be apparent from a consideration of the drawings forming part hereof, wherein:
FIG. I is a partly fragmentary, perspective view of a display appliance for fabric bolt holders, embodying the invention,
FIG. 2 is a fragmentary perspective view of a display fixture utilizing a series of such holders,
FIG. 3 is an enlarged vertical sectional view, taken at line 3-3 of FIG. I, and
FIG. 4 is a fragmentary, enlarged, perspective view of the lower end of a bracket arm embodying the invention, taken at line 4-4 of FIG. 3.
As shown in the drawings, wherein similar reference characters indicate like parts, the display appliance bolt holder of this invention comprises rails lit) and llll secured together in spaced parallel relation, for example, as shown in FIG. ll, by means of transverse spacers or connecting end bars 112, to define a generally rectangular or other desired appliance contour. Each rail is preferably of U-shaped, downwardly opening cross section, as noted at 13 in FIG. 3. The exterior faces of the outer walls M of the rails are, pursuant to the invention, formed flat, for registration therewith of the lower ends of bracket arms 15, each rail being formed of parallel sidewalls defining a space 13 therebetween, means 2'7 being provided (FIG. 3) to hold the sidewalls parallel. Said bracket arms 15 have upper closed ends 16 from which extend downwardly outwardly directed upper arm portions 17, 118 and from which in turn depend lower, relatively flat parallel bracket arm ends 19, 20, terminating in free ends 21, 22 inwardly directed at substantially right angles. As shown in FIG. 4, the inwardly directed free end 21 of the bracket arm is preferably formed as a flat nosing elongated at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the bracket arm, for selective complementary engagement with one of a series of axially elongated slots 23, 24 in the outer walls 14 of the rails and 1111, the other free end 22 of the bracket arm being similarly formed.
As shown in FIG. 2, a plurality of rails and complementary brackets may be mounted on and form part of a fixture 25 or formed as a single-unit fixture (FIG. I).
It will be appreciated, from a consideration of the drawings and the foregoing description, that the individual bracket arms may be selectively registered with opposite slots 23, 24 of the rail arms l0 and 11 or with nonaligned slots, to dispose the bracket arms either at precisely right angles to the longitudinal axis of the rails or desired different angles, for thus positioning the free ends 21, 22 of the bracket arms and thus adjacent the brackets, in either aligned, oppositely disposed, or nonaligned slots. Thus, each of a set of bracket arms may be spaced relative to the next at precisely the arrangement desired by the user to receive and display bolts of cloth in precisely the display angular or other position desired. The rail apertures 23, 24 open to the interiors E3 of the hollow rails as shown in FIG. 3, and the inwardly directed free ends 211, 22 of the lower ends 119, 20 of the brackets are proportioned for free registration with selected slots in the rails, as above described and preferably extend substantially into die hollow interiors of the rails. The extremities of the parallel lower ends 19, 20 are preferably flattened, as shown at 26 for complementary registering engagement with the flat outer faces 14 of the rails 10 and lll and for cooperative registration and interlocking of the parts, as above described. Each bracket arm is preferably made of a unitary length of material tensioned to compress and thereby interengage with the rails.
We claim: 1. A display appliance for fabric bolts comprising a pair of rails and means securing said rails in relatively spaced relation, said rails having outer walls, a series of axially elongated apertures provided in the outer walls of said rails, said rails being substantially hollow and said apertures opening to the hollow interiors of said rails, and a plurality of vertically disposed, resilient bolt-positioning brackets adjustably and cooperatively positioned on the rails in spaced relation for positioning a bolt between adjacent brackets, each bracket comprising upper closed end portions and lower bracket arm ends depending from said upper portions and disposed parallel to each other and terminating in free ends, and inwardly directed, opposed, nosings at the free ends of said lower ends of the bracket arms extending normal to said parallel bracket end arms, said inwardly directed nosings being axially elongated and formed for complementary close fit reception in the axially elongated apertures in the outer walls of said rails, the lower ends of the parallel bracket arms of each bracket straddling the spaced pair of rails with the inner surface of the parallel lower free ends of each bracket in engagement with the outer wall of the respective rail and with the axially elongated, inwardly directed nosings extending with a close, com plementary fit through an axially elongated aperture in the respective rail and into the interior thereof, the cooperation between the walls of the axially elongated apertures and the axially elongated nosings fitting closely therein provided the sole means for maintaining the brackets in a vertical position.
2. In a display appliance for fabric cloth, as set forth in claim ll, said bracket arm ends being flattened at their inner faces for sliding registration and bearing engagement with the outer walls of the rails.
3. In a display appliance for fabric bolts, as set forth in claim ll, each rail being formed of parallel sidewalls, defining a space therebetween and means to hold said walls so parallel.
4. In a display appliance for fabric bolts, as set forth in claim 1, said upper portions of said bracket diverging at an angle.
