UNITED STATES PATENT GFFICE.
FBIDERIGH J ARECKI, OF ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA.
HYDROCARBON GAS BURNER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 366,321, dated July 12, 1887.
Application filed December 13, 1886. Serial No. 221,484. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRIDERIOH J AREOKI, a citizen of the United States, residing at Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Hydrocarbon-Gas Burners; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, forming part of this specification. 7
My invent-ion consists in the improvements in hydrocarbon-gas burners hereinafter set forth and explained, and is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which the figure shows a vertical central section of my improved hydrocarbon-gas burner in'perspective.
In the construction of my improved burner Imake the lower section, B, of the burner preferably cup-shaped, the form thereof not being essential, and provide a screw-threaded collar, C, near the center thereof, to which the gas-supply pipe is secured. The upper section or cover, A, I preferably make of a little larger diameter than that of the lower section, B, so that the edge F of the section A projects somewhat beyond the edge G of the lower section, B. The rim G of the lower section, B, I preferably finish to a smooth edge all around, and fit the rim F of the section A thereto by a smooth joint. I then se cure the cover A and the lower section, B, to gether, preferably by means of three small bolts, D, and also tap through the shell of the lower section, B, preferably three holes, and
insert set-screws E therein, which reach up to the inside of the cover A, which rests thereon. By turning these set-screws E up or down, the distance of the rims F and G from each other is increased or dim inished, as desired, the bolts D being meanwhile loosened or tightened to suit the changes of the positions of the setscrews E. It will thus be seen that a continuous slit, L, is presented entirely around the burner for the exit of the gas, which causes it to issue forth to be burned in the form of a thin continuous film, which can be increased or diminished in thickness at pleasure.
I have shown in the drawinga round burner; but it-is obvious that my burner can with equal facility be made rectangular, Oblong, or of any other shape desired to suit the place in which it is to be used.
From the description of my invention hereiubefore given its operation is so obvious that further description thereof is unnecessary. Therefore,
\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is
The combination, in a hydrocarbon-gas
