Description
EDWARD E. BLINN'.
Improvement in Stove Pi pe Drums.
Paten ted 001t- 17,1871.
JNVENTDR:
UNITED STATES EDWARD E. BLINN, OF BREWERTON, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN STOVE-PIPE DRUMS.
I Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 120,024, dated October 17, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD E. BLINN, of Brewerton, in the county of Onondaga and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Stoves and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, in which i Figure 1 is a front view. Fig. 2 is a central cross-section, and Fig. 3 is a top or plan view. Fig. 4 is a detail.
Similar letters of reference indicate like parts in the several figures.
This invention consists in combining a warming-oven with the pipe of a stove in such a manner as to rotate or swing around out of the way on said pipe, and be applied or removed with the greatest facility when desirable, as hereinafter more fully explained.
In the accompanying drawing, A is the body of the oven, and a the door. It is suspended on the pipe B. The pipe passes through the oven eccentrically or near its rear wall, so that it can be turned out of the Way at any time by turning it on the pipe, or be made to face in any direction that is'most convenient. It is applied to stoves already in use with the same facility or without extra labor. A ring, 0, Figs. 2 and 4, is provided, that fits over the stove-pipe with such accuracy as to rest on the ordinary shoulders of stove-pipe, as seen in Fig. 2, and the oven is sustained and revolves on said ring or collar 0. The collar has a notch, 0, that engages with the longitudinal rib of the pipe. that is formed by locking its joint or seam, to prevent the collar from turning on the pipe, so that it will keep its proper position.
In attaching the oven to the stove the collar 0 is placed within the oven, and the joint B of pipe is then passed up through it from below and the connection is made; and the joint B being placed into the stove-pipe the operation is completed, which is cheaply and quickly done.
The upper side of the oven will serve as a shelf, and one or more shelves can be placed within the oven, if desired. It will usually be made with cast-iron heads and door, and the rest of Russia sheet-iron.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent, 1s-
The oven A a, in connection with the stovepipe B, the pipe passing eccentrically through the chamber of the oven, so that it can be revolved around said pipe, as and for the purpose described.
The above specification of my invention signed by me this 6th day of September, 1871.
EDWARD E. BLINN.
