G. E. TRANOHELL.
GAME.
No. 351,137. Patented Oct. 19, 1886.

UNITED STATES PATENT Trice,
OLAES E. TRANOHELL, OF IVILLMAR, llIlNNESOTA.
GAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 351,137, dated October 19, 1886.
Application filed July 16, 1886.
T0 aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that l, GLi-xns E. TRAXOHELL, of WVillmar, in the county of Kandiyohi and State of Minnesota, have invented a new and Improved Game, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates to the construction of a peculiar and novel form of board designed to be used in the playing of a game, which will not only afford a great amount-of amusement and require considerable skill, but will be an excellent nerve-test, a steady hand being required in order that the game may be advantageously played.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both the views.
Figure l is a plan view of the board or disk employed in the playing of the game, and Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same on the line .1 m of Fig. 1.
In the drawings, A represents a disk of any appropriate size, said disk being provided with a handle, B, having an enlarged portion, 0, between the handle proper and the disk A. A number of holes, preferably ten, are formed in a circular line close to the peripheral face ofthe disk A, and a central hole, D, is also made through the disk, that portion of the disk in which the central hole, D, is formed being practically disconnected from the main portion of the disk except at the points EE, said points constituting supports by which the central portion of the disk is upheld, the connection at E being a bridge between the two portions of the disks. To the enlarged portion of the handle B there secured a bail, F, which acts as the support for a marble, G, said marble being used in the playing of the game.
It will be noticed that the apertures formed in the disk are numbered successively from O to 10, and that a higher number is given to the aperture D, while a still higher number is given to the loop or bail F. 1
Serial No. 208,188. (No model.)
In playing the game any desired set of rules may be established; but the main feature of the game will be to cause the marble G to pass from the loop F around the disk, past the several apertures, to and around the aperture 1), and back again to the bail F; but if the marble should fall from the disk at any time, either by passing over the outer edge of the disk or through either of the openings H, no count would be made, and in practice it is presumed that the rules will require that the marble should pass the apertures marked with the lower numbers first, it being understood that the apertures are all of sufficient size to permit of the passage of the marble.
In order that the efficiency of the disk as a nerve-tester may be increased, I would some times form the disk with beveled edges, as shown at I; but this would not always be done and is not an essential feature of theinvention.
If desired, an encircling hoop, K, could be arranged, as illustrated, so as to prevent the marble from falling to the floor should it pass over the outer edge of the disk.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. As an article of manufacture, a disk formed with a series of apertures located near its peripheral edge, and having a central aperture formed in a portion of the disk connected with the main portion of the disk by bridges E, substantially as described.
2. The combination, with a disk formed with apertures numbered consecutively, said apertures being located in close proximity to the peripheral edge of the disk, and havinga central aperture formed in a portion of the disk that is connected with the main portion of the disk by bridges E, of a handle provided with a bail or loop, F, substantially as described.
