PAINT COMPOUND FOR ROOFS, 800.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 306,320, dated October '7, 1884.
Application filed April 14, 1884. (No specimens.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EDWARD CLARK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tiflin, in the county of Seneca and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fire-Proof Paint, of which the following is a recipe or compound.
My invention relates to certain improve ments in paint compounds for roofs, &c., and is designed to produce a mixture that shall resist the action of fire or be fire-proof, but still shall be capable of use for the varied puris present in comparatively large quantities, and thus tends largely to produce the fireproof quality of the paint. The uses to which it may be put are innumerable, and the mode of application obvious. The ingredients are all cheap commercially and easily obtained, thus making the paint desirable, aside from its lire-proof qualities, on account of its ease of manufacture and its inexpensiveness.
It is obvious that the exact proportions specified are not of necessity held to, but may be varied within certain limits, as well as the fact that the coloring may also be varied.
Having described the device, what I claim is The herein-described method of producing a fire-proof paint, consisting in mixing together sal-soda, lit-harge, airslaked lime, ground slate, alum, Brazilian gum, indigo, glue, and coal-tar, in substantially the prop ortions specified, and then boiling the mixture, after which it is allowed to cool.
