ATTORNEY United States Patent flice 2,815,571 Patented Dec. 10, 1957 MULTIPLE CUTTER ROTARY SHAVER HAVING UNINTERRUPTED SHAVING SURFACE Ottone Brentani, Sao Paulo, Brazil Application April 2, 1956, Serial No. 575,465 1 Claim. (Cl. 30-43) This invention refers to the shaving head for shavers, and more particularly to the arrangement (position) of the rotary cutters. These cutters, numbering two or more, are placed in line or in a triangle, a quadrangle or any other geometrical figure. The shaving head is further characterized essentially by the fact that the courses of said rotary cutters intersect each other, forming cross points, as happens in the case of the teeth of gears.
Figure l is a view in vertical cross section of a shaving head in accordance with the invention, with a fragmentary view of the body of the shaver;
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the perforated contact plate or comb;
Figure 3 is a view in horizontal section taken along line AA of Figure 1;
Figure 4 is a detailed view of one of the cutters as seen along section line BB of Figure 3; and
Figure 5 is a perspective view corresponding to Figure 3.
Referring now to the drawings, the shaving head includes a perforated contact plate or comb 1 disposed above three rotary cutters each indicated at 2. Rotary cutters 2 each have a cutting edge 8. Each cutter is mounted on a separate drive shaft 3, the three shafts being parallel to each other. In the illustrated embodiment, the axes of the drive shafts 3 all lie in a common plane, the upper ends of the three shafts lying on the same straight line. The distance between the shafts 3 is such that the courses of the rotary cutters intersect each other in cross points so as to form one uninterrupted shaving band or surface. The cutters 2 are held in position with respect to shaver 5 by a retainer 4. A retaining spring 6 and a plastic cap 7 are also provided for the shaving head.
This invention, therefore, offers actual advantages, of a technical and practical nature, over shaving heads for shavers having two or more rotary cutters, and having parallel shafts, in which the distance between the centers of shafts is greater than twice the radius of the cutters, thus causing the formation of individual shaving bands, and preventing the formation of one continuous (uninterrupted) shaving band.
What is claimed:
Shaving head for shaver, consisting of two or more retary cutters wih parallel shafts, arranged in line or in any geometrical figure, characterized by the fact that the courses of the rotary cutters intersect each other, forming cross points, so as to constitute one continuous shaving band.
