This device comprises two shell members, an inner shell 10 and an outer shell 11 which may be telescoped one within the other, as indicated in Fig. 1. The outer shell member 11 comprises a cylindrical body portion 12 and a reduced upper portion 13 separated by the shoulder 14, the upper reduced portion being provided with a longitudinal slot 15 reduced in width at its upper or entrance end 16 for a purpose later to be described.

The inner shell member 10 comprises an intermediate body portion 17, a reduced upper portion 18 separated from 17 by the shoulder 19, and an enlarged lower portion 20 forming a finger grip and separated from the intermediate body portion 17 by the shoulder 21. The upper reduced portion 18 is provided with a longitudinal slot 22 reduced in width at its upper or entrance end 23 for a purpose presently to be described. The lower end of the enlarged portion or finger grip 20 is closed by an end wall 24 in which is punched an opening 25 with its side walls forced or drawn inwardly, as indicated at 26, to increase the length of the side walls of the opening.

"This carrier32 with"its"lipstik or other c'osme'tic33' is inserted in the reduced portion 18 of the inner shell and 0 is slidable longitudinally therein with a good close sliding fit, with the narrow band 35 projecting through the slot 22 and the widened portion 36 overlapping this slot on the outer side of the wall 18 to provide a lug or finger 0 grip for sliding the carrier 32 longitudinally in the shell to expose the lipstick or similar material 33 beyond the upper end of the shell portion 18 for use, and after use retracting it into the shell, as indicated in Fig. 1. The lower end of the slot 22 will act as a stop to limit inward movement of the carrier 32 by cooperation with the lower portion of narrow band 35, and the reduced upper end 23 will cooperate with the upper portion of this band to limit outward movement of the carrier and prevent its being forced too far out of the shell. 55 A third cupper member or carrier 37 is provided for carrymg an eyebrow pencil or similar material 38. The upper end portion of this member is slit at 39 to permit it to yield somewhat and allow insertion of the pencil 38 into this member and form a spring grip for retaining it therein, the lower end of this carrier being closed, but it is provided on the side Wall intermediate its opposite ends with an outwardly extending flange 40 forming a limit stop so that when the upper end portion 41 is inserted in the opening 25 in the lower end of the inner 65 shell 10, this flange will engage the end of the shell as indlcated in Fig. 1 and limit inward movement of this holder or carrier, the portion 41 having a sufficiently tight fit in the opening 25 to normally retain this holder in the opening, but to permit it to be withdrawn for use 7 of the material 38, the lower portion 42 of this member 37 forming a finger grip for this purpose.

When the device is assembled in normal condition for mediate portion 17 has ,a good sliding fit in the portion 12 of the outer shell, but with sufiicient friction to retain them in this position with the lower end of the shell 11 against the shoulder 21. The reduced portion 18 forms a clearance space 46 between this portion 18 and portion 12 of the outer shell for the lug or finger grip 36. The upper open end of the shell 11 may be closed by a suitable cap or closure 43 telescoped over the upper reduced portion 13 of the outer shell 11, and with its lower end against the shoulder 14, but the upper end of this cap is closed by the top wall 44 to protect the material 28. This cap may also be provided with a flange or finger grip 45 to facilitate its application to or removal from the shell 11, this cap also having a good sliding fit on the reduced portion 13, but with sufficient grip or friction to retain it in position. It will also pass over the lug or finger grip 31, as the thicknesses of the walls of the various members are exaggerated in the drawing. When assembled the lower enlarged portion of the inner shell is exposed below the lower end of the outer shell 11, as indicated in Fig. 1, to thus provide an exposed finger grip for removing it from the outer shell 11 to permit use of the lipstick or other material 33.

It will be understood from the above that this provides a very simple construction for this type of device involving a minimum number of parts, which may be readily assembled and in which the three difierent cosmetic materials may be readily carried and protected when the device is not in use, but in which any one of the different materials is readily available for use at any time. The various members may all be drawn from sheet metal, the thicknesses of the walls of these members being exaggerated in the drawings.

Having thus set forth the nature of my invention, I claim:

1. A holder of the character described comprising an outer shell open at both ends and including a reduced portion adjacent one end, an inner shell including an intermediate portion with an open ended reduced portion at one end of the intermediate portion and an enlarged portion at the other end of the intermediate portion forming a finger grip, said outer shell telescoped at one end over the intermediate portion of the inner shell, a carrier for cosmetic slidably mounted in the reduced portion of the inner shell, a second carrier slidably mounted in the reduced portion of the outer shell, means for shifting .the carriers in their respective shells, and a closure for the outer shell telescoped with the reduced portion of this shell.

A holder of the character described comprising an outer shell open at both ends and including a reduced portion adjacent one end, an inner shell open at one end and closed at the other end, said latter shell including an intermediate portion with a reduced portion between this intermediate portion and the open end and an enlarged portion forming a finger grip between the intermediate .portion and the closed end, the outer open ended shell telescoped at one end over the intermediate portion of the inner shell, a closure for the other end of the outer shell, carriers for cosmetic material slidably mounted in the inner and outer shells respectively and provided with means for shifting them in the shells, the closed end of the inner shell providing with an opening, and a cupped carrier for an eyebrow pencil or the like removably mounted in said opening and including a projecting finger grip.
