H. SLAIGER TOILET KIT Filed July 18, 1922 HENRY SLAIGER, F ATTLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO D. F. BRIGGS GOM- PANY, OF ATTLEBORO, MASSACHUSETTS.
TOILET KIT.
Application filed July 18,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1', HENRY SLAIGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Attleboro, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Toilet Kits, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in toilet kits and pertains more particularly to a kit which has a powder container and puff, the present invention being an improvement upon my application for patent for owder container, filed March 2, 1922, Serial 0, 544,017.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a construction in which the puff may be moved out of its holder sleeve or handle prior to removal of the pull from the container or in other words, while the puff is in the container, so as to thus allow powder to be shaken onto the puff prior to removal of the latter.
A further object of the invention is to provide improved means for locking the puff 1n the container and to also provide a lip stick which is removable from the opposite end of the container and which is held therein by similar locking means.
The invention has further and other objects which will be later set forth and manifested in the course of the following de scription.
' In the drawings:
Figure 1, is a side elevation;
Figure 2, is a section on line 22 of Fig ure 1- F ig ure 3, is a section on line 33 of Figure 2;
Figure 4, is a detail side elevation of the lip stick and its holder detached from the container.
In proceeding in accordance with the present invention a preferably cylindrical container 1 is employed provided. with a par tition 2 between its ends so as to form -a powder compartment 3 and alip stick compartment 4, the container having an attaching bail 5 for securingsame to a chain or the like. The-lower end of the container or r the outer end of the compartment 4 is closed by a cap 6 having a riin 7 which fits snugly over the outside of the contalner, a sleeve 8 being attached tothe cap so as to fit withln the container interior; A ferrule 9 has the lip-stick 10 secured thereto by means of 8.
1922. Serial No. 575,787
pin 11 which latter extends through the lip stick and at its ends extends into the slots 12, which are of bayonet form and provided in the sleeve 8. One end of the pin 11 is secured to the ferrule while the opposite end extends through adjacent slot 12 and is headed at 13 and further passes through a bayonet slot 14 provided therefor in the lower end of the container 1. It will thus be seen that the lip stick can be locked in the sleeve 8 by moving the head 13 of pin 11 into the angular end 14 of its slot 12. It will further be seen that the cap 6 can be locked in position by moving the head 12 of pin 11 into the angular end of the'slot A similar cap 15 having a flange 17 fitting over the upper end of the container. is provided, a sleeve 18 diametrically slotted at 19, being secured to the cap and receiving a pin 20 headed at 21 through its slots 19, the end of the pin having the head 21 also engaging through a slot 23 of bayonet form provided in the upper end of the container 1. The opposite end of the pin 20 is headed at 24 so as to prevent movement thereof out of the adjacent slot 19. A ferrule 25 is slidable within the sleeve 18 and receives therein one end of a pufl' 26 the latter being secured by a loop 27 to pin 20.
In order to use the lip stick it is merely necessary to move the head 13 of pin 11 out of the bayonet slot 14 whereupon the cap 6 with sleeve 8 can be removed from the container, and following removal, pin 11 is moved by engaging itshead 13 to move the pin 11 lengthwise of the slots 12, thereby projecting the ferrule 9 and the lip stick 10 to the position of Figure 4.
In order to move the puff 26 out of its sleeve 18, prior to the removal of the puff, so that a full supply of powder may be shaken onto the puff, it is merely necessary to grasp the cup 15 and .move same outwardly to the position ofFigure 2, thus projecting the puff to its limit of outward movement with respect to the sleeve 18, the pin.20 being held in the angular part of the slot-23, following which the powder is shaken onto the puff and the cap is turned to move the pin 20 out of slot'23, thus presenting the puff in a position ready for use. Prior to replacing the puff into the container pin 20 .is slid toward the cap 15 to move the ferrule "25 and therewith the pufl" into completely housed position withln the sleeve 18.
Having thus described my invention,
"sleeves, toilet members carried by the ferrules, and-pins carried by the ferrules for,
securing the toilet articles thereto and engageable through theqslots of the sleeves and in the respective container slots. 4
v2. In a toilet kit, a container open at its ends and having slots in the latter, caps for closing the ends, a sleeve carried by each cap, toilet articles slidable in the sleeves,
and manual means to move the toilet articles'into. and out of. the sleeves at will and for engaging the slots of the container to latch the caps to the. latter.
3. A toilet kit composed of a ,tubular body having slots at each end, a closure for each end of the body having a slotted sleeve, a toilet article slidable in each sleeve, and a pin for operating each toilet article connected. to the latter and operat ing' in the slots of the sleeves and body.
4 In combination with a tainer, a powder p'ufi, a slotte .carrier for the puff, and a pin carried by the puff and of two subscribing owder conmovable in the slot of the carrier to allow the puff and carrier to be relatively slid allows the carrier and therewith the putt to be removed from the container.
5. In combination with holding means,
a toilet article, means slidably carrying the article, means carried by the article to allow the latter to -be disposed to project into anout of the article carrying means, and means on the holding means to receive sald means carried by the article audiormed to hold said latter means in one position of the latter stationary to allow the carrying means to be moved to cause the article to be projected out from the carrying means while the article remains in the holding means, and in a second position of the means carried by the article to allow the article carrying means and therewith the article to be removed from the holding means In testimony whereof-I have signed my name to this. specification in the presence witnesses.
