(01. 206 41) invention relates to a tobacco pouch, and i'ts principal object is to providean improved articlefor this purpose, which will be convenien-tly" and economically manufacturable, saleable at low cost, strong, durable, efficient, and conveniently utilizable. 1

Another object is to provide an improved tobacco pouch having convenient means for therein loading the tobacco, with eflicient auxiliary means for therefrom extracting the tobacco and directing it into the smoking pipe for use.

A further object is to provide a tobacco pouch with improved means for therewith efficiently retaining the tobacco out of communication with the atmosphere, which frequently deteriorates its condition.

A still further object is to provide a tobacco pouch with improved means for therefrom conveniently and efficiently extracting the tobacco for use, without any direct handling of the tobacco and minimum exposure of the body of the tobacco to the atmosphere, which is often detrimental thereto.

Other objects and advantages will hereinafter appear.

Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the tobacco pouch constituting the invention, showing it as it appears when opened up for therefrom extractingthe tobacco for use.

Fig. 2 is an elevational view, partially in crosssection, of the tobacco pouch shown in Fig. 1.

Fig. 3 is a transverse cross-sectional elevational view of the tobacco pouch, taken on line 3-3 of Fig. 2.

Fig. 4 is a fragmentary elevational view of the tobacco pouch, in a reduced scale, showing it as it appears when in operative state for depositing the tobacco into the smoking pipe.

The tobacco pouch I includes an outer receptacle 2 having therein an inner receptacle 3, for therewithin retaining the tobacco 4, each of said receptacles being of leather or any other suitable pliable material. The receptacle 2 is open at its top side 5, and its margins 6 are thereat provided with a hookless fastener device I for lockingly closing it. The upper portion 3a of the receptacle 3 extends outwardly of the receptacle 2 when the latter is in opened state, as shown by the dash and dot lines in Fig. 3, and when the receptacle 3 is loaded with its full complement of tobacco 4 its portion 3a is folded over upon itself inwardly of the receptacle 2, and the latter is locked up by its device 1.

A flap I9 is secured to and at the junction 20 of the side wall 8 and bottom wall 2| of the pouch I, and is swingable from an open position illustrated in Fig. l to a closed position shown in Fig. 2, in the latter of which it covers over the framing H and closed spout I 2, while a snap fastener member 22 interengages with a cooperating member 23 on side wall 8 to lock the flan [9 in said closed state.

In the utilization of the tobacco pouch I, the overlapping of th portion 3a of the inner receptacle 3, with the subsequent locking of the receptacl 2 by its device 1, efficiently maintains the tobacco l therein in preserved condition against undue communication with the atmosphere, particularly so as no further opening of the receptacles 2, 3 is required, oth r than for reloading the pouch, and the tobacco may be thereafter extracted for us through the limited outlet H).

In using the tobacco pouch, it is initially loaded by unlocking the device 1, opening the top side 5, withdrawing the portion 3a of receptacle 3 outwardly of said opening, pouring the tobacco 4 into thte receptacle 3, folding over its portion 3a upon itself inwardly of the receptacle 2 as in Fig. 3, and then relocking the device 1. Thereafter, the tobacco 4 is extracted for use by unlocking the flap l9 and letting it swing away from the side 8, as shown in Fig. 1, opening of the spout l2, and then pouring th tobacco therethrough directly into the smoking pipe 24, in the manner illustrated in Fig. 4. While the flap I9 is in its closed state and locked to the side wall 8 it positively maintains the spout l2 against accidental opening and additionally prevents passage of air through its closing wall l5. It will be noted that in use of this pouch no manual 3 contact is had with the tobacco 4 at any time, as it is initially loaded directly into the inner receptacl 3 and thereafter fed out into th pipe 24 through the spout l2.

Variations may be resorted to within the scope of the invention, and portions of the improvements may be used without others.

Having thus described my invention, I claim:

1. A tobacco pouch made of pliabl material having the combination of an openable and closable top side for therethrough loading the tobacco thereinto, the lower portion of the end side of the pouch having an outlet for therethrough discharging tobacco, a framing of rigid material bordering said outlet, a spout hinged to one side of said framing being swingable into and outwardly of the pouch, said spout having means to lock it to said framing, and a flap secured to the pouch having means to attach it to and detach it from said end side for covering and uncovering said framing and spout.

A tobacco pouch having the combination of an openable and closable top side for therethrough loading the tobacco, a receptacle for the tobacco within said pouch having its upper end portion projectionable outwardly of said top side, said upper portion being f-oldable upon itself and into said pouch prior to the closing of said top side, the end of said receptacle and of said pouch having a joint outlet for therethrough discharging tobacco, a framing of rigid material bordering said joint outlet, a spout hinged to one side of said framing being swingable into and REFERENCES CITED The following references are of record in the file of this patent:
