Description

April 15, 1952 v. GARn-:PY 2,592,800
-DILATOR FOR cLoGGEn TEATS Filed July 5. 1951 'y wf/v To@ GE/VT Patented Apr. 15, 1952 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE DILATOR FOR CLOGGED TEATS Victor Gariepy, Waterloo, Quebec, Canada Application July 5, 1951, Serial No. 235,193 In Canada May 23, 1951 1 Claim. 1
This invention relates to an instrument for introducing a sterilizing and healing medicament into the teats of animals, principally cows, without causing any irritation or hurting the teats contrary to what might happen with the instruments employed at present for that purpose.
My invention then is an instrument having a pointed end for easy introduction into the teats of the animals. followed by an enlarged slottedfsection into which the medicament or soothingfmateral is placed. The outer part thereof iis terminated by a knob for holding and turnin'g .the instrument once into the teat.
I have found that the disadvantages mentionedjabove may be overcome by providing an instrument which will accomplish the work for which it is intended with a maximum effect and security.
In the drawings which illustrate the embodimentsV of the invention,
Figure 1 is a side view of the instrument,
Figure 2 is an end view,
Figure 3 is sectional view longitudinally, and
Figure 4 is a cross-section through medication slot.
I will now describe in detail the parts constituting the instrument.
Numeral 6 designates the pilot end of the in- (Cl. 12S-261) 2 strument, and 8 shows the segments. retaining the medicated matter into the slot',
Numeral 1 designates a ringer piece or knob for the manipulation of the instrument, numeral 9 shows the spindle shaft portion connecting the knob and the inner section of the dialator, and numeral In shows wedge points anchoring the medicated matter.
Further description of the instrument is believed unnecessary, an inspection of the iigures of the drawings suiliciently explains its functions.
Iclaim:
An instrument of the character described consisting of a pointed section enabling its introduction into animal teats, an enlarged section having a slot adapted to containla medicated matter, said slot extending the full length of `the enlarged section and terminated at its inner and outer end by a wedge point' for the purpose of anchoring said medicated kmatter until the intrument is introduced into a teat. a spinv(ile shaft portion, and a iinger piece for the manipulation of the instrument, said shaft portion extending between said enlarged section and said ringer piece, the whole forming an integral instrument. .i
