Fig. 5 is afront elevation, partly in jsection, of a tie also constructedin accordance -with this inventionbut illustrating another embodiment thereof; and Y ,A Figl .6 is an elevation, partly insection, of the upper part of a knot portion and illustrating still another embodiment of the invention.l 1
In the embodiment of the invention illustrated in Figs. 1 tolli, Vthe tie includes a preformed knot portion I having a double layer, textile or other suitable covering 2 over a body portion 3. This body portion may be of plastic, cork, or any other.
suitablematerial which has the shape, approximate size and general appearance of the knot portion of a tie. The body 3 is providedV in its lower end'witha recess v4 in which is secured, in'.
anysuitable manner, a plug .5 of suitablel elastic, resilient material, such as soft, resilient .rub-f ber molded to the desired shape to fit'the recess' 4. This plugV 5 is provided Y with a cavity or chamber-6 opening downwardly intol the recess Ilv and having in its peripheral wally an annular groove 1 spacedv inwardlyV somewhat from the lower end of the plug.

VWith such an -ar` rangement the drape Vmay befattached to-or removed f from 5 the knot portion by forcing the pin with its flanged head into or out-of the cavity 6, the rubber between the annular'groove andthe open, lower e'ndiof the plug yielding-or stretch# ing under'fpressure to pass theflange I0 of the stiiening pinl 9.v fThu's. one may have a plurality of drapes withitheir individual stiffening Lpins 9 attached theretdand these may be interchangeV ably connected to the plug 5 in the knot portion,y by merely'. forcibly inserting orA removing the'r flanged head of the pin on a drape.
If desired, the plug may be sprung into" asphallow, annular groove in the. peripheral-Walibi recess `4, or it may bev cemented in the recess 4, or any other suitable anchoragefmay'be' em-V`Er ployed. Preferably, however,` as shown, the plug' 5. rprovidedl vat its opposite end vwithY another cavity I I opening through its vopposite end face, and Vthis cavity may also havev anfannular groove I2v in its side or peripheral wall which receives andresiliently holds a flanged head I3 on la rod' or pin I4which.passes freely upwardly through a passagefIB .inthe body 3 of the knot-portion. This Vpin Hor elementA I4v isy releasably se'curedjin the knot .portion in any suitable manner, that illustrated in Figs. 1 toy 4 including a pairof wire elements I6 and.y I 1, each of which has an eye I8 atitsxouter end, and which at its other end passesthrough a small passage in the knot portion to Yintersect the passage I5 adjacent its upper ende Such other'end is threaded,`
The upper endof kthe, pin or element I4 has transverse 'passages I9 which'are threaded and into which the threaded ends lof the rods or wires I6 and I'Iv-'are threaded.' These wires I6k and I'I thus vserve to yanchor the `element I4 within the knot portion, and theelement I4, in"
bandV of a, shirt; Both of these wires i6 and I'IV 3 may have a slight offset therein so that the loops I8 will be in endwise alignment with each other.
The covering 2 is preferably formed of a plurality of layers 2a and 2b which abut face to face and which are of contrasting colors. The outer covering in the portion forming the front face of the knot portion has formed therein an aperture 20 of any suitable appearance, such 4as that of a cross, and the-edges of this openingrll. are bound and attached to the underlying layer 2b bound by sewing 2c. Thus the under layer of contrasting color will be visible through the opening 2U which will produce an unusual and attractive'z:
appearance. Obviously other outline shapes may y be employed for the opening 20.
