Description

(No Model.)
' J. HOFFMAN.
Flat Iron Heater. v No. 230,777. Patented Aug. 3, I880.
@immsms: 3111mm NF'ETERS. FHDTO-LIYHDGRAFHER. WASHINGTON, D, C.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JACOB HOFFMAN, OF OHIPPEWA FALLS, WISCONSIN.
FLAT-IRON H EATER.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Letters Patent No. 230,777, dated August 3, 1880.
Application filed April 28, 1880.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JACOB HOFFMAN, of Chippewa Falls, in the county of Chippewa and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Flat-Iron Heaters; and I do hereby declare that the fol lowing is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in flat-iron heaters, having for its object to improve the construction of the same; and it consists in the combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the annexed drawings, Figure l is a perspective, and Fig. 2 a vertical longitudinal section.
A represents the top plate, to which may be attached a suitable handle, a; B, the side pieces, and (J the doors. The doors 0 are braced and held in position by the rods 1), and are provided with handles 0. The bed-plate (No model.)
A is provided with the slots D, over which may slide the covers E.
The device is adapted to be placed upon any ordinary stove, and when it is desired to heat the iron the doors 0 are let down, the covers E swungoff the slots, and the iron slid in, as shown at Fig. 2. The doors are then closed.
By this arrangement it is obvious that the face of the iron is brought close to the fire and is heated evenly and quickly.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a flat-iron heater, the combination of the top plate, A, having the slots D, with the slid ing covers E, handle a, sides B, swinging doors 0, and rods 1), constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed mysignature in presence of two witnesses.
JACOB HOFFMAN.
Witnesses R. D. MARsHALL, W. F. BOLAND.
