This invention relates to a holder for cans containing a cleanser, or any equivalent.
It is particularly aimed to provide a means whereby a can containing cleanser may be kept close to the usual place of use without the usual soiled appearance thereof being displayed, and to this end to provide a holder which will practically conceal the can and will in itself be an addition which will not detract from the room and which in fact may be finished or ornainented in any suitable manner so as to match the place of use usually the kitchen, bathroom or garage.
The more specific objects and advantages will become apparent from a considerationof the description following taken in connection with accompanyngl drawing illustrating an operative embodiment.
In said drawing:
Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of the holder;
Figure 2 is a central longitudinal sectional view taken on the plane of line 2-2 of Figure l, and
Figure 3 is a plan View of the holder.
Referring specifically to the drawing wherein like reference characters designate like or similar parts, the invention as a whole is designated I0 and may be made from one or more pieces of sheet metal, or any other appropriate or equivalent material. Such holder has a base or shelf at II from which an attaching wall I2 rises at the rear and preferably has apertures or openings I2' therethrough so that nails, screws or the like may be passed in order to fasten the holder to a wall or other support at an elevation enabling the hand to be placed beneath the shelf I I.
A cylindrical or other container I3 is provided, being open at both ends, and at the rear being secured at I4 as by soldering or the like to the wall or ange l2. Forwardly of such flange I2, the base 4of container I3 extends outwardly to provide an attaching flange I5, which is overlapped by and secured to4 a top wall It of the shelf, which is spaced vertically from the base I I by a low upright wall I'I.
A can of cleanser or other material I8 is adapted to be deposited into the holder through the upper end of the container i3 and the latter is preferably of such length that it completely conceals the can I8, as shown in Figure 2, so as not to detract from the appearance of the room or other surroundings.
In order to facilitate ready removal of the 1939, Serial No. 274,304
can I8, an opening I9 is provided in the base II through which one or more fingers are insertable to lift the can for engagement from above by the other hand. Such opening I9 is preferably eccentric with respect tothe bore of the holder I3, so as to place the opening I9 close to the front of the can or remote'from the support of the holder, thus better facilitating insertion of the fingers.
Attention is called to the fact that the container i3 may be finished or ornamented in any desired manner. It may for instance have a pastel shade finish, to accord with the surrounding finish of woodwork or other material. In fact, the label of the manufacturer of the cleanser can I t maybe applied directly to the exterior of container I3 or such label contents or other advertising, may be delineated in any other suitable manner upon the exterior of container I3.
Various changes may be resorted to provided they fall within the spirit and scope of the invention.
I claim as my invention:
l. A holder for a cleanser can or the like having a shelf provided with a base wall, an attaching wall rising from the rear of the base wall, said shelf having a top wall spaced from the base wall, a container extending below the upper edge of and in contact with the rear wall having a flange underlappingsaid top wall, said container being open at the top and bottom, and said base wall extending below and across the open end of the container and having an opening therethrough in line with the space of the container to facilitate insertion of the fingers to lift a can.
2. A holder for a cleanser can'or the `like having a shelf provided with a base wall, an attaching wall rising from the rear of the base wall, said shelf having a top wall spaced from the base wall, a container extending' below the upper edge of and in contact with the rear wall having a flange underlapping said top wall, said container being open at the top` and bottom, said base wall extending below and across the open end of the container and having an opening therethrough in line with the space of the container to facilitate insertion o-f the fingers to lift a can, said opening being eccentric with respect to the container with its location nearer the front of the container than the rear of the container.
