Description

. June 16, 1942. APT 2,286,704
BOB PIN HOLDER Filed Feb. 6, 1940 INVENTOR Lou/sv C. APT
BY WW ATTORNEY Patented June 16, 1942 UNITED STATES th s i EN! OFFICE 2 Claims.
The object of the present invention is the manufacture of a carrier for hairpins, particu larly of the so-called small bob pin type. The carrier hereinafter described has the advantage that the pins can be arranged therein and the loaded carrier placed in the purse or packed in quantities for shipment and arranged on shop shelves and counters without displacement or injury to the pins.
Fig. l is an elevational view of an unfolded carrying card embodying the features of the invention;
Fig. 2 is an inside view of the same;
Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 33 of Fig. l, and
Fig. 4 is an end sectional View on lines 4-4 of Fig. 1.
The preferred form of the invention embodies a cardboard folder I comprising two sections 2 and 3, adapted to carry bob pins II. These pins usually consist of a pair of normally separated shanks I2 and I5 connected by a loop I4. Section 2 has a front face 4 usually embodying an advertisement or design, and a rear face 5, usually embodying a series of indentations or scorings I3.
The other section 3 of the folder has a front face I, having a series of perforations B and a series of linear scorings r indentations 9 following the general contour of the shank of a bob pin as hereinafter set forth. The back I0 of sec tion 3 has a similar series of indentations. Advantage is taken of the fact that in pins of this character the shanks have a spring action and press against each other. One shank I2 of each pin I I is passed through the perforations or hole 8 on section 3 of the folder, so that the loops I4 of the pins lie over the perforations and the shanks I2 and I5 normally lie lengthwise along the line of the indentations. The slight resultant pressure against the indentations in the cardboard tends to keep the pins in place in the line of the indentations; thus the shanks are not twisted out of place and lie flat and even when carried in the purse or when the cards are packed for shipment and placed on stock shelves.
It is obvious that the invention may be embodied in many forms and constructions within the scope of the claims, and I wish it to be understood that the particular form shown is but one of the many forms. Various modifications and changes being possible, -I do not otherwise limit myself in any way with respect thereto.
I claim:
1. In combination, a plurality of bob pins having loops and resilient shanks and a folding carrying card therefor comprising two opposed facecontacting sections, the card being provided with perforations and indentations extending from the perforations in one section and repeated in the opposed section, the pins being positioned to rest with their loops hooked through the perforations of the card and their shanks on opposed sections of the card in the indentations thereof for the purposes specified.
2. In combination, a plurality of bob pins having loops and resilient shanks, and a folding cardboard carrier therefor, the cardboard being provided with perforations extending across the top of one section of the top of the folder, and scorings extending from such perforations and repeated in the opposed section of the folder following the shape and length of the shank of the pins, the pins being positioned to rest with their loops in the perforations and their shanks pressed into the scorings when the folder is closed.
