KIT FOR PERSONAL WEAR Filed Feb. 3, 1937 BY NIT/V555. I M
ATTORNEYS.
IN VENTOR.
Patented Sept. 13, 1938 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 6 Claims.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in toilet goods and similar articles and more particularly it pertains to a device of the afore-mentioned character especially adapted for personal wear as in a pocketbook or the like.
7 It is an object of the invention to provide a compact device for carrying keys, toilet articles and implements in which the several articles carried thereby are readily available for use.
It is a further object of the invention so to construct the device that the articles carried thereby may be readily removed therefrom. Other objects of the invention will appear as its nature is better understood, for which purpose reference will be had to the following specification and claims and the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a device constructed in accordance with the present in-,
vention,
Figure 2 is a view in front elevation thereof,
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 33 of Figure 2,
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 44'of Figure 2,
Figure 5 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 55 of Figure 2,
Figure 6 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 6--6 of Figure 2,
Figure '7 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 'l'| of Figure 2,
Figure 8 is an edge view in elevation, and;
Figure 9 is a transverse sectional view taken 35 substantially on the line 9-9 of Figure 2.
A device constructed in accordance with the present invention comprises a box-like receptacle designated A in the drawing. This receptacle has a bottom wall l0, side walls II and I2, and
one end wall I3, the opposite end of the box being preferably left open. Spaced with respect to the side wall l2 there is a partition l4 and the space between this side wall l2 and the partition l4 provides a housing for a pen knife blade I5 which, as illustrated in Figure 9, is pivotally mounted upon the extension I6 of a member H which is mounted in the side wall l2 of the partition heretofore mentioned. The partition I4 is notched as at |B in order that access to the blade 50 may be had for rocking the same about its pivotal point to and from its open position.
Mounted within the box-like structure there is an L-shaped member 26 which comprises two legs 2| and 22. The leg 2| extends substantially parallel with the wall II of the box-like receptacle and is spaced therefrom to provide a compartment 24. The leg 22 of this L-shaped member 20 preferably lies in contact with the end wall l3 of the box-like receptacle and may be secured thereto in any desired manner.
Mounted in the compartment 24 there are a plurality of toilet implements 26, 21 and 28 which may be of any desired character. Each of these members is shown as provided with a hooked end 29, the purpose of which will be hereinafter described.
By reference to Figure 9, it will be noted that the leg 2| of the partition 20 and the adjacent wall H of the box which form the compartment 24, are bridged by a sleeve 30. It will also be noted by reference to this figure that the member l1, heretofore mentioned, has a screw threaded recess 3|. Bridging the box-like structure and having a reduced end 32 mounted in the sleeve-like portion there is a rigid rod 33. 20 This rigid rod 33 has a threaded reduced end 34 for reception in the internally threaded recess 3| of the member H, and it is provided with a knurled thumb member 35 by means of which the rod may be rotated. 25
The reference numeral 36 designates a plurality of key attaching clips and these members are threaded upon the rod 33, heretofore mentioned, by disengaging the threaded end 34 with the threaded recess 3| and moving the rod to 30 the right to the position in which it is illustrated in Figure 9. This operation leaves the threaded end 34 of the rod 33 free and spaced sufficiently from the member H to permit of the clips 36 being threaded thereon. When these clips are 35 threaded thereon in the desired number, the threaded end 34 of the rod 33 is inserted in the threaded recess 3| and the bar thus held in position.
The hooked ends 29 of the several implements 40 are adapted to be engaged beneath the sleeve member 30 in such a manner that cooperation between the sleeve member 30 and the bottom wall ll) of the receptacle will maintain these hooked members in position within the receptacle. 5
sharpener mounted in the closed end of the receptacle and access may be had thereto through an opening 42 in the end wall I3 of the receptacle.
In the present illustration of the invention I have shown no cover for the receptacle since the cover forms no particular part of the invention and obviously any type of cover desired may be employed.
While the invention has been herein disclosed in its preferred form it is to be understood that it is not to be limited to the specific construction herein shown and that it may be carried out in other forms within the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is: p
1. A kit for personal Wear comprising a box-like receptacle, a plurality of partitions dividing said receptacle into a plurality of compartments, a rigid member extending transversely of the receptacle and mounted for longitudinal sliding movement in one of said partitions, and means carried by said rigid member and having interengagement with one of said partitions to retain the rigid member against longitudinal movement in one direction.
2. A kit for personal use comprising in combination, a box-like receptacle having an open end, a plurality of partitions dividing said receptacle into a plurality of compartments, a member having an internally threaded opening, said member being mounted in one of said partitions, and a rigid bar spanning said partitions and having threaded engagement with said internally threaded opening for holding the rigid bar in operative position in said partitions.
3. A kit for personal use comprising in combination, a box-like receptacle having an open end, a plurality of partitions dividing said receptacle into a plurality of compartments, a rigid bar bridging said partitions closely adjacent the open end of the receptacle, said bar being mounted in one of the partitions for longitudinal sliding movement, and means carried by the bar and having interengagement with one of said partitions to limit the longitudinal sliding movement of the bar in one direction.
4. A kit for personal use comprising in combination, a boxlike receptacle, a rigid bar extending transversely of said receptacle in spaced relation with the bottom wall thereof, a plurality of implements adapted for retention in said receptacle and a hooked end on each of said implements for cooperative engagement beneath the said rigid bar and the bottom wall of said receptacle.
5. A kit for personal use comprising a box-like receptacle, a rigid bar bridging said receptacle in spaced relation with the bottom wall thereof, a plurality of implements, and a hooked end on each of said implements for engagement with the rigid bar to retain said implements in position in the receptacle.
6. A kit for personal use comprising a box-like receptacle, a rigid bar bridging said receptacle in spaced relation with the bottom wall thereof, a plurality of implements, and a hooked end on each of said implements for engagement beneath the rigid bar and for cooperative engagement with the bottom wall of said receptacle to form means for retaining said implements in place in said receptacle.
