COMBINED INSTRUMENT AND BLADE HOLDER AND CONTAINER Filed OCT. 17, 1957 FIG. I
ATTORNEY$ United States Patent COMBINED INSTRUMENT AND BLADE HOLDER AND CONTAINER John I. Barnes, Jr., Clayton, N.C.
Application October 17, 1957, Serial No. 690,874
3 Claims. (Cl. 206-16) This invention relates to a combined container and bolder adapted for convenient mounting and constructed to receive and house an instrument, such for example, a replaceable blade razor, as well as new and used blades for use in connection therewith.
One object of the invention is to provide a combined packaging and dispensing container for new blades and a holder for used blades, the combined dispensing and disposal container being used interchangeably and being simple in construction and convenient to use.
Another object of the invention is to provide a container of the class described having provision for packaging of an instrument, such as a replaceable blade razor and constructed in such a manner that the container may be used as a convenient wall-mounted holder for such an instrument.
Another object of the invention is to generally improve packaging, housing, holding, dispensing and disposal containers for replaceable blade razors and new and used blades.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure l is a perspective view of a container embodying the present invention with instrument and razor blades in the packaging position.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the invention, wall mounted, and illustrating the top receptacle for used blades, the middle receptacle for new blades and the bottom receptacle for holding instrument.
Figure 3 is an exploded viewillustrating the relationship of the various parts.
Referring to the drawings in detail:
A represents the container made in accordance with the present invention housing the instrument B and new razor blades C. The packaging container A comprises front wall 1 and rear wall 2, spaced from each other somewhat more than the head width of the safety razor B of the usual type and side walls 3 and 4 spaced from each other somewhat more than the head length of a safety razor B of the usual type. Partition-shelf 5 forms the bottom of compartment D and is slotted 8 to receive handle of razor B1. Partition-shelf 6 forms the bottom of compartment E and is slotted 9 to receive handle of razor B1. Partition-shelf 7 forms the bottom of compartment F and is slotted to receive and hold razor B. It will be seen from an inspection of Fig. 2 that the partition 5 and shelf 6 are inclined downwardly toward the rear wall 2 in order to facilitate drainage of water therefrom through the slots 8 and 9.
As clearly shown in Figure 1, container A comprises compartment D which is open at the top 11 which provides space to receive and hold a package of razor blades C and head of razor B; compartments E and F which provide space to receive the handle of razor B1 through slots 8 and 9 in partition-shelves 5 and 6, partition-shelf 7 being solid at point of contact of razor handle B1.
As shown in Figure 2, container A comprises compartment D which is open at the top and provides a space to compartment F which provides a space to receive and hold a razor B in slot 10. Hole 12 provides a means of attaching container A to wall or other surface.
Figure 3 is an exploded view of the different parts of container A as they might be used in different methods of manufacture.
Thus, it is seen that the construction of container A as described and shown here is such that it is well adapted to accomplish the several objects of the present invention. It will be understood, however, that the invention may be embodied otherwise than shown here and that certain changes in the construction, size and arrangements of the parts of the illustrated embodiments may be made and will occur to others in view of the present disclosure. Therefore, I do not wish to be limited precisely to the constructions herein shown except as may be required by the appended claims with reference to the prior art.
What is claimed is:
1. A combined package and rack for a safety razor and blades and providing a receptacle for used blades, said package and rack comprising a generally rectangular container having spaced parallel sidewalls, a rearwall, a partition extending bet-ween said sidewalls intermediate the length thereof, a front wall extending from said partition to one end of said sidewalls to provide a compartment open at the top and closed at the bottom by said partition, a slot in said partition midway between said sidewalls and extending from said rear wall forwardly to a point substantially midway of the depth of said partition, a shelf extending between said sidewalls substantially midway between said partition and the opposite end of said sidewalls, a forwardly extending slot in said shelf in alignment with the slot in said partition, a bottom wall extending between the opposite ends of said sidewalls, a slot in said bottom wall midway between said sidewalls and extending from the front edge rearwardly to a point forwardly of the front ends of the slots in said shelf and said partition and means on said rearwall for supporting said container, said compartment serving to receive the head of a razor projecting downwardly through the slots in said partition and said shelf and with the end of the handle engaging said bottom wall, said compartment with the razor and blades removed serving as a receptacle for used blades, said shelf providing a support for new blades and said bottom wall providing a support for the razor, with the head of the razor engaging said bottom wall and the handle of the razor projecting downwardly through the slot in the bottom wall.
2. A combined package and rack for a safety razor and blades and providing a receptacle for used blades as defined in claim 1 in which said partition and said shelf are inclined downwardly toward said rearwall to facilitate drainage of water through the slots therein.
3. A combined package and rack for a safety razor and blades and providing a receptacle for used blades, said package and rack comprising a generally rectangular container having spaced parallel sidewalls, a rearwall, a partition extending between said sidewalls intermediate the length thereof, a front wall extending from said partition to one end of said sidewalls to provide a compartment open at the top and enclosed at the bottom by said partition, a slot in said partition extending from said rearwall forwardly, a shelf extending between said sidewalls between said partition and the opposite end of said sidewalls, a forwardly extending slot in said shelf in alignment with the slot in said partition, a bottom wall extending between the opposite ends of said sidewalls, a slot in said bottom wall extending from the front edge rearwardly and means on said rear wall for Patented May 3, 1960 eoae zgta T e I suhporting said containerseid compartment serving to is suh port for theraior; with the heed of the razor enegreceive the head of a razorand a package of blades with h g Said t om Wallhnd the hanqle 0 th 0 P jectthe'handle of the razor projecting downwardly through 111g downwardly through the Slot 1n the bottom Wallthe slots in said partition and said? shelf and with the 0? the handle engaging Said bottom wall, said Com I 5 References Cited 1n the file of this patent pertment'with the razor and. blades"removed s ervingas UNITED STATES PATENTS V areceptaele for used blades, said' shelf providing a Sup- 1,981,674 Solomon Nov. 20, 1934 ,port for new blades and said bottom wall providing 21' 2,432,818 Schults Dec. 16, 1947
