This invention relates to handkerchiefs and its general object is to provide a handkerchief simulation in the form of a novelty in that it is primarily designed to be worn in the upper outside pocket of a coat for display purposes, in the same capacity as a fancy handkerchief of the type now in general use.

A further object of the invention is to provide a handkerchief simulation of the character set forth that includes sections in layers, shaped whereby any one section can be displayed to give the appearance of a folded handkerchief, and each section may be a different color, design or both, so that the displayed section may be changed in accordance with the apparel of the wearer to harmonize therewith or match the same.

Another object of the invention is to provide a handkerchief simulation of the character set forth, that is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, and efiicient in use and service.

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.

In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:

Figure 2 is a similar View with certain of the sections folded to dispose the handkerchief simulation in position for use.

Figure 3 illustrates the handkerchief simula- 40 tion in use.

Referring to the drawing in detail, it will be .noted that my handkerchief simulation as shown, includes four separate and distinct sections, indicated respectively by the reference numerals I, 2, 3, and 4, and each section is made up of a plurality of layers 5 of suitable material generally used in making fancy handkerchiefs, such as silk, linen or any kind of cloth or the like.

The layers of the sections may be secured directly to each other with the seams of the layer sections disposed innermost, or the sections may or may not be integral and may be in the form of pockets partially or of the complete size of the sections, to receive inner layers, or the sections of the outer layers may be connected for a portion of their edges to provide a pocket of the size of the handkerchief simulation to receive like connected sections so that the layers can be disposed one within the other, or I may employ facing strips 6, there being four facing strips shown, two upon each side of the handkerchief simulation and arranged in crossed association with each other to overlap the confronting edges of the sections of the outer layers. It will of course be understood that the facing strips may be secured to the sections by stitching or the like and when the other methods above indicated are used, stitching may be the securing medium. The free portions of the edges of each layer of the sections may be hemmed or finished in any well known manner. The sections may be of the same color and the hem or edges thereof may be of a different color or design.

Each layer of each section in the form as shown, is of uniform size and may be of hexagonal configuration, with the side edges angularly disposed with respect to each other to provide a triangular shaped end portion for each layer of each section and these end portions are the parts of my handkerchief simulation to be individually displayed as shown in Figure 3. In the form as shown, two sides of the sections are parallel and the other end portion of the sections are likewise triangular shaped and may be termed the connected end portions. However, the sections may be of any shape.

Each section is preferably of a different color with the layer of each section of the same color, and it will be noted that the section l is shown as being colored red, the section 2 white, the section 3 green, and the section 4 blue. The sections may not only be colored differently, but may include difierent design work thereon, and even may be of different shape, as the important feature is to provide various sections, each of which are different and particularly of a different color, so that any one of the sections may be arranged for display purposes within the pocket of the user with a view of harmonizing with or matching the apparel of the user.

When the handkerchief simulation is disposed in the position for use, three of the sections are preferably folded, one upon the other in overlapped association as shown in Figure 2, while the remaining section is retained for display purposes. .The layers of each section may be of graduated size so that the edges thereof project one beyond the other so as to simulate or give the appearanve of a folded fancy handkerchief of the type now generally employed for the same purpose as my handkerchief simulation, but of course if the sections are of identical size the edges have a tendency to project beyond each other as indicated in Figure 3.

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.

I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.

What I claim is:

1. A handkerchief simulation comprising a plurality of connected sections each including outer and inner layers of material with the outer layers arranged to receive the inner layers therebetween, each section being of a difierent color and having angled free portions disposed whereby any one maybe individually displayed from the pocket of a user.

2. An ornamental handkerchief simulation comprising an inner layer and outer layers of material disposed one upon the other, each layer including hexagon shaped sections having two adjacent right angle edges at its inner end and secured together along said two right angle edges, each layer having outer free portions for display purposes, said layers being graduated in size so that the outer free portions thereof project one beyond the other.
