Description
E. GLOVER Nov. 28, 1939.
CARD HOLDER Filed May a; 1933 Inventor Zia/1:2 7006? Patented Nov. 28, 1939 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE CARD HOLDER Edwin Glover, Jackson, Mina, assignor of onefourth to John G. Hand, Jackson, Miss.
Application May 8, 1939, Serial No. 272,501
1 Claim. (01. 4 -10) which is adapted to be expeditiously mounted on the usual sun shade of the-vehicle where the card therein, such as a driving permit, may be conveniently inspected at all times. Other objects of the invention are to provide a card holder of the aforementioned character which will be comparatively simple in construction, strong, durable, highly efficient and reliable in use, compact, attractive in appearance and which may be manufactured at low cost.
All of the foregoing and still further objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent from a study of the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying g0 drawing wherein like characters of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing a card holder constructed in accordance with the pres- 25 ent invention mounted on a sunshade.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view, taken substantially on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1.
Figure 3 is an elevational view of a portion of I the device, the case or cover being omitted. 30 Referring now to the drawing in detail, it will be seen that the embodiment of the invention which has been illustrated comprises an open front case of any suitable material which is designated generally by the reference numeral I. 35 Mounted in the case I are fiber board laminations 2 which are adhesively secured together. The reference numeral 3 designates an operator's card mounted in the case I in front of the laminations 2 and behind a transparent sheet 4 in the 40 open front of said case. A bendable-closure I is provided at one end of the case I' to facilitate the insertion and removal of operator's cards, registration cards, etc.
The case I is adapted to be detachably secured in position on a conventional sun shade 6 through the medium of bendable sheet metal fingers l which project from the upper and lower edges of said case. ,The fingers 'I extend through the case I and terminate, at their inner ends, in T heads I which are anchored between the laminations 2.
In Fig. 1 of the drawing, the reference numeral S designates the usual supporting rod on which the sun shade i is adjustably mounted. 10
It is'thought that the manner in which the holder functions will be readily apparent from a consideration of the foregoing. Of .course, the
case I with the operator's or other cards therein is positioned on the sun shade 6 and the attach- 15 ing fingers I are bent over the upper and lower edges of said sun shade. Thus by simply swinging the sun shade 6 to proper position the card in the holder may be conveniently exhibited at all times. It will be observed that the bendable retaining fingers I permit ready removal of the holder when desired.
It is believed that the many advantages of a card holder constructed in accordance with the present invention will be readily understood and although a preferred embodiment of the device is as illustrated and described, it is to be understood that changes in the details of construction may be resorted to which will fall within the scope of the invention as claimed. 7
What is claimed is: A card holder of the character described comprising a case for the reception of a card, laminations mounted in said case and adhesively secured together, and bendable sheet metal fingers mounted on the case and projecting therefrom for engagement with a support for mounting said case thereon, said fingers comprising substantially T shaped inner end portions anchored between the laminations. 4
