Description
June 16, 1931. D Hopp PRICE TICKET HOLDER Filed April 15, 1930 .W HO.
` Q Il@ l Attorney Patented June 16, 1931 LEO I-IOPP, OF NE'W YORK, N. Y., ASSIG'NOR 0F ONE-'HALF TO GEORGE H0131? AND ONE- HALF TO HARRIET GOLD, BOTH OF NEW YORK, N. Y. l
Paron- 'rIcKEr norman Application filed April 15,
This invention relates to price ticket holders, and more particularly it pertains to that type of price ticket holders disclosed in the allowed application of Hermann Hopp and Leo Hopp, Serial Number 162,286.
It is one of the objects of the present invention to provide a novel formy of device of the above. described character in which, in addition to displaying price tickets, tickets bearing a description of the merchandise offered for sale, may likewise be displayed.v Y
Further objects of the invention reside in the provision of a device of the above mentioned character which will befhighly efficientv for the purpose intended, will present a neat and attractive appearance, and yalthough constructed from relatively light material, is of rugged and durable construction, and which permits of the ready insertion, and removal of the several tickets employed in connection therewith.
With the above, and other objects in view.
which will appear as the nature of the invention isebetter understood, reference is had to the accompanying drawings, in which;
Figure 1, is a perspective-view of a price ticket holder constructed vin accordance with one form'of the invention,
Figure 2, is a view in -front elevation, of the price ticket holder illustrated in Figure 1,
Figure 3, is asectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 2,
Figure 4, is a view in front elevation illustrating a slightly Imodified form of the invention,
Figure 5, is a sectional view taken on the line 5-5 of Figure 4;,
Figure 6, is a sectional view of a slightly modified form of the invention,
Figure 7, is an enlarged detail sectional view taken on the line 7-7 of Figure 4.
Referring to the drawings, a price ticket holder constructed in accordance with the present invention comprises a main body portion divided into a plurality of ticket receiving spaces or areas 10 and 11, of which the latter is preferably the smaller. The main body portion of the device is preferably L formed of two members one of which is su- 1930. Serial No. 444,471.
pe'rimposed upon the other, suitable means being employed to secure the members together.
As herein disclosed, the body portion consists of two members 12 and 13. The member 12 is formed upon two oppositely ldisposed edges with ticket retaining members as for example flanges 14 and 15 preferably formed by bendingover the edges of the member 12.
the member 13 superimposed upon the mem-A A ber 1.2 as shown.
'In that form 0f the invention illustrated in Figures 1 to 3 inclusive, the member 12- is offset as at 17 to providel a lticket receiving space v18 to the rear of that edge of the mem ber 13 which carries the ticket retaining flange 16, and this space, together with the ticket retaining flange 15 provides means for retaining tickets upon the space 11. l
Tongues such as indicated at 19 maybe formed from the member 13, and put through openings 2() in the member 12, but this particular arrangement oftongues and openings does not necessarilyhave to be adhered to, since the tongues 19 may be formedupon either ofthe members and passed through openings in the other member. 'These tongues serve to secure the members 12 and 13 together, and in addition, these tongues serve to prevent the tickets from passing between the , members 12 and 13 when positioned in the ticket 4receiving space 18, it being un- Y derstood that these 'tongues are so formed as to occupy a position adjacent the offset 17, and thetickets rest thereon as illustrated in Figure 7. Y Y
In use, rprice t'icketssuch as25, are carried by the space 10, and tickets such 'as 26 bear-` ing a description vof the merchandise offered forsale are carried by the space`11, and these tickets are retained against lateral displacement, by means of lugs or the like 27 which may be struck from the members of the body portion and placement and removal of the tickets may be facilitated by reason of cut out portions 28 for example, as shown in the prior patent to Hermann Hopp and Leo Hopp, No. 1,398,782, November 29, 1921.
4 In that form of the invention illustrated in Figures 4 to 6, the upper, or member 13, is ofl'set as indicated at 35 to provide a ticket receiving space 36 to coact with the ticket receiving flange 15. In these forms of the invention, the tongues 19 are so positioned as to supportV the ticket 26 and prevent entrance thereof between the members 12 andy 13.
While in those forms of the invention illustrated in Figures 1 to 5 inclusive, the member 13 extends throughout the space between the offset portion and the ticket retaining flange 14, this construction is not necessary to the successful operation of the device, since said member may be relatively short as indicated at 37 in Figure 6.
If desired rivets, eyelets or the like 38 may be employed to secure the members 12 and 13 together in addition to the tongues 19, and in some instances of manufacture, it may be possible to eliminate the tongues 19 and employ the rivets, eyelets or other fastening means, positioning such fastening means adjacent the ticket receiving space 18 or 36 so that it will serve to prevent entrance of the tickets between the members 12 and 13.
While in the present application, the invention has been shown in its preferred forms, it is to be understood that it may be practiced in other forms, which fall within the purview of the appended claims.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters-Patent, is:
1. A device of the character described comprising two members secured together in overlying relation, a plurality of ticket retaining flanges formed on one of .said members, a single ticket retaining flange formed on the other of said members and an off-set formed in one of said members coacting with a portion of the othermember to form a space to receive an edgeof a ticket.
2. A device of the character described comprising two members secured together in overlying relation, a plurality of ticket re,- taining flanges on one of said members, a ticket retaining flange on the other of said members, and one of said members having a portion spaced with respect to the other of said members to provide with said second mentioned member a ticket receiving space.
3. A device of the character described comprising two members secured together in overlying relation, a plurality of ticket retaining flanges on one of said members, a ticket retaining flange on the other of said members and means for securing said members together, said securing means forming a ticket guiding means operative in combination with one of said ticket retaining anges.
4f. A device of the character described comprising two members secured together in overlying relation, a plurality of ticket retaining flanges on one of said members, a
lticket retaining flange on the other of said members and means for securing said memh bers together, said securing means forming a ticket guiding means operative in combination with one of said ticket retaining flanges, and said securing means comprising a plurality of tongues carried by one of said members, and bent through openings in the other of said members.
5. A device of the character described comprising two members secured together in overlying relation, a plurality of ticket retaining flanges formed on one of said members, a single ticket retaining flange formed on the other of said members, an off-set formed in one `of said members to provide a ticket receiving space, and meansfor securing said members together, said means being located adjacent said off-set portion, and forming ticket guiding means.
6. A device of the character described comprising two members secured together in overlying relation, a plurality of ticket retaining flanges formed on one of said members, a single ticket retaining flange formed on the other `of said members, an olf-set formed in one Vof said members to provide a if,
ticket receiving space, and means for securing said members together, said means being located adjacent said oE-set portion, and forming ticket guiding means, and comprising a plurality of tongues integral with one of said members, and bent through openings in the other of said members. Y
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
