2 Claims.

My invention relates to a comb and cleaner combination and has as one of the principal objects thereof the provision of a comb equipped with means coacting with a cleaner for facilitating the cleaning of the comb.

Another object of my invention is to provide a comb and cleaner combination which is simple in construction, durable in use, efficient in operation and economical in manufacture.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description, appended claims and annexed drawing.

Referring to the drawing wherein like reference characters designate like parts throughout the several views:

Figure 1 is a side elevation of a comb and cleaner combination constructed in accordance with my invention.

Figure 2 is a side elevation of the comb detached from the cleaner.

Figure 3 is a side elevation of the cleaner detached from the comb.

Figure 4 is a sectional View taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 1 and illustrating the comb and cleaner in assembled condition for effecting a cleaning of the comb.

In practicing my invention, I provide a comb 5 formed with a lengthwise extending rib 6 provided with equally spaced teeth 'l including end teeth 8 and 9. The end tooth 8 has fashioned thereto a handle lil integrally connected to the rib 6. The rib 6 is fashioned with teethwise extending sections l i having oppositely disposed angular exposed faces IZ between the teeth. The oppositely disposed faces of each section Il converges towards the outer ends of the teeth for a purpose herein made apparent.

A comb cleaner l5 is associated with the comb 5 for removing foreign matter and the like from between the teeth of the comb and comprises a relatively wide lengthwise extending rib l@ provided with spaced teeth Il of a width adapted to yieldably fit between the teeth 'l of the comb. The teeth Vl include end teeth I8 formed with offset sections I9 spaced from the adjacent lengthwise extending edge of the rib I5 and coact with the outer faces of the teeth 8 and 9 of the lcomb whereby to guide the cleaner relative to the comb to facilitate cleaning of the latter.

The device l5 is constructed of relatively soft material, for instance rubber, and has the teeth ll thereof positioned between the teeth 'l of the comb with the offset sections i9 engaging the outer faces of the teeth 8 whereby to provide a guide for the cleaner upon relative movement of the latter and comb.

When the teeth l1 of the cleaner are moved towards the sections ll and in angular relation to the teeth of the comb, a wiping action will be yhad which effects a cleaning of the teeth and faces l2 of the comb 5.

The cleaner I5 is fashioned with a handle 20 integrally connected to the rib I6 as clearly illustrated in Figure 3 of the drawings whereby said handle may be grasped in one hand with the handle lll of the comb in the other hand as illustrated in Figure 1 of the drawing for effecting operation of the combination.

What I claim is:

1. In combination, a comb formed with a lengthwise extending rib provided with spaced teeth, said rib having teethwise extending sections fashioned with angular exposed faces between said teeth, and a cleaner disposed in angular and sliding engagement with said comb and formed with a rib juxtaposed in relation to said first mentioned rib, said rib of said cleaner provided with spaced teeth of a number and width to snugly t between the teeth of the comb and engage the faces of the sections therebetween to effect cleaning of the teeth and sections of said comb upon relative sliding movement of said comb and cleaner in a direction towards one of said ribs to effect complete separation thereof.

2. In combination, a comb formed with a lengthwise extending rib provided with spaced teeth, said rib having teethwise extending sections fashioned with angular exposed faces between said teeth, and a cleaner formed with a rib provided with spaced teeth of a number and width to snugly fit between the teeth of the comb and engage the faces of the sections therebetween to effect cleaning of the teeth and sections of said comb upon relative movement of said comb and cleaner in a direction to effect separation thereof, said comb and cleaner each provided with a handle to facilitate said relative sliding movement.
