- The disclosure relates to bed sheet devices and more particularly pertains to a new bed sheet device for preventing a unitary sheet that prevents one person from pulling the bed sheet off of a second person.
- The prior art relates to bed sheet devices. Known bed sheets typically covering two persons within one bed are subject to being pulled upon by one the other of the two persons resulting in removal of the bed sheet from covering the other person who is not pulling on the bed sheet.
- An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a top panel having an upper edge, a bottom edge, and a pair of lateral edges extending between the top edge and the bottom edge. The top panel has a cutout extending into the upper edge defining a pair of spaced upper sections of the top panel. Each of a pair of flaps is coupled to a respective one of the upper sections and extends across the cutout towards another of the upper sections.
- There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
- The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
- The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a top front side perspective view of a two person bed sheet device according to an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 3 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 4 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the disclosure taken along line 4-4 ofFIG. 2 . -
FIG. 5 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure in use. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new bed sheet device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 5 , the two person bed sheet device 10 generally comprises a top panel 12 having an upper edge 14, a bottom edge 16, and a pair of lateral edges 18 extending between the upper edge 14 and the bottom edge 16. The top panel 12 has a cutout 20 extending into the upper edge 14 defining a pair of spaced upper sections 22 of the top panel 12. Each of a pair of flaps 24 is coupled to a respective one of the upper sections 22 and extends across the cutout 20 towards another of the upper sections 22. Each flap 24 of the pair of flaps 24 has a top edge 26 linearly aligned with the upper edge 14 of the top panel 12. Each flap 24 has a length extending away from the upper edge 14 of the top panel 12 which is greater than a length of the cutout 20 extending away from the upper edge 14 of the top panel 12. Each flap 24 is coupled to the top panel 12 along a portion of a single respective linear edge 28 of the flap 24 corresponding to a lateral linear edge 30 of the cutout 20. Each lateral linear edge 30 of the cutout 30 may be perpendicular to the upper edge 14 of the top panel 12. The single respective linear edge 28 of each flap 24 has a length greater than a length of the cutout 20 extending away from the upper edge 14 of the top panel 12. Each of the top panel 12 and each flap 24 has a rectangular shape. A longitudinal length of each flap 24 is half a length of the top panel 12 between the upper edge 14 and the bottom edge 16 of the top panel 12. The length of each flap 24 extending away from the upper edge 14 of the top panel 12 may be twice the length of the cutout 20 extending away from the upper edge 14 of the top panel 12. - In use, the top panel 12 is positioned on a bed 32 which may be a conventional mattress, futon cushion, or the like. The top panel 12 and each flap may be a sheet, comforter, quilt, or other type of bedding. The bottom edge 16 is positioned at the foot of the bed 32 and may be tucked in or left loose as desired. When positioned on the bed 32, the top panel 12 is used to cover each of a pair of users 34. Each user 34 can grasp the top panel 12 or a respective one of the flaps 24 aligned with their side of the bed 32 allowing for adjustment of the bed sheet device 10 for comfort with no, or minimal, corresponding movement of the opposing upper section 22 and flap 24 covering the other user 34.
- With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
