Abstract

A bed sheet assembly includes a first panel has a left edge, a right edge, a bottom edge and a top edge. The first panel has a first section thereof removed and extending inward from the left edge and upwardly from the bottom edge. A first inner edge is defined extending upwardly from the bottom edge and positioned opposite of the right edge. A second panel has a left edge, a right edge, a bottom edge and a top edge. The second panel has a second section thereof removed and extending inward from right edge and upwardly from the bottom edge of the second panel. A second inner edge is defined extending upwardly from the bottom edge of the second panel. The second inner edge is positioned opposite of the left edge of the second panel. The first and second inner edges is joined together to form a unitary structure.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The disclosure and prior art relates to bed sheet devices and more particularly pertains to a new bed sheet device for having split sections to allow for each person to retain a personal section of the sheet independent of usage by the other person.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a first panel is comprised of a cloth material and has a left edge, a right edge, a bottom edge and a top edge. The first panel has a first section thereof removed and extending inward from the left edge and upwardly from the bottom edge of the first panel. A first flap is defined extending upwardly from the first section. A first inner edge is defined extending upwardly from the bottom edge and is positioned opposite of the right edge of the first panel. A second panel is comprised of a cloth material. The second panel has a left edge, a right edge, a bottom edge and a top edge. The second panel has a second section thereof removed and extending inward from right edge and upwardly from the bottom edge of the second panel. A second flap is defined extending upwardly from the first section. A second inner edge is defined extending upwardly from the bottom edge of the second panel. The second inner edge is positioned opposite of the left edge of the second panel. The first and second inner edges is joined together to form a unitary structure such that the first and second flaps overlap with each other.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new bed sheet device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the bed sheet assembly 10 generally comprises a first panel 12 that is comprised of a cloth material. The cloth material may be any conventional material used in the manufacturing of conventional bed sheets and blankets such as cotton, polyester, silk, wool and the like. The first panel 12 has a bottom side 13, a top side 15, a left edge 14, a right edge 16, a bottom edge 18 and a top edge 20. The first panel 12 has a first section 22 thereof that is removed and extends inward from the left edge 14 and upwardly from the bottom edge 18 of the first panel 12. A first flap 24 is defined extending upwardly from the first section 22. A first inner edge 26 is defined extending upwardly from the bottom edge 18 and is positioned opposite of the right edge 14 of the first panel 12.
A second panel 28 is comprised of a cloth material which would be the same material as the first panel 12 is comprised of. The second panel 28 has a bottom side 29, a top side 31, a left edge 30, a right edge 32, a bottom edge 34 and a top edge 36. The second panel 28 has a second section 38 thereof removed and extending inward from right edge 32 and upwardly from the bottom edge 34 of the second panel 28. A second inner edge 40 is defined extending upwardly from the bottom edge 34 of the second panel 28. The second inner edge 40 is positioned opposite of the left edge 30 of the second panel 28. A second flap 42 is defined extending upwardly from the second section 38. The first 26 and second 40 inner edges are joined together to form a unitary structure such that the first 24 and second 40 flaps overlap with each other. The first 24 and second 40 flaps may be overlapped in either direction with respect to each other. The first 12 and second 28 panels may be sewn together or may be formed as a single, unitary unit.
Regardless, the bottom edge 18 of the first panel 12 and the bottom edge 34 of the second panel 28 will form a continuous bottom edge.
Each of the first 22 and second 28 sections extends less than ⅓ of a distance upwardly from the bottom edges 18, 34 to associated ones of the top edges 20, 36 and extends inwardly from a respective one of the right 14 or left 34 edges greater than 30% of a width of a respective one of the top edges 20, 36. Generally, the first 12 and second 28 panels will have a size such that their joined bottom edges 18, 34 extend along and cover a standard size bed, thus the sizes of the first 12 and second 28 panels will depend on the size of the bed for which they are to be placed upon. Generally, the joined bottom edges 18, 34 will have a width between 4.0 feet and 9.0 feet and the first 12 and second 28 panels will have a length between 7.0 feet and 10.0 feet. However, the assembly 10 will typically be used most frequently on queen and king sized beds and therefore the width will typically be at least 6.5 feet. Each of the first 12 and second 28 panels has a width along their respective top edges being preferably equal to at least 80% of the combined length of the bottom edges 18, 34. This provides overlapping flaps, i.e. the first flat 24 and second flap 34, of material to be used while sleeping as shown in FIG. 5.
A resiliently stretchable material 44 is attached to and extends along the bottom edges 18, 34 of the first 12 and second 28 panels. The resiliently stretchable material may further extend from the bottom edges 18, 34 upwardly along the right edge 16 of the first panel 12 and left edge 30 of the second panel 28 a distance of less than 24.0 inches. The resiliently stretchable material 44 is used to help retain the first 12 and second 28 panels on a mattress.
In use, the assembly 10 is placed on a bed just as would a typical flat sheet, though the bottom edges 18 m 34 may include material that is extended under and frictionally grips the mattress. The first 12 and second 28 panels are then generally used individually by two persons so that each person remains fully covered regardless of the pulling on the assembly 10 by the other person.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

I claim:

1. A blanket assembly configured for being positioned on a mattress, said blanket assembly comprising:

a first panel being comprised of a cloth material, said first panel having a left edge, a right edge, a bottom edge and a top edge, said first panel having a first section thereof being removed and extending inward from said left edge and upwardly from said bottom edge of said first panel, wherein a first flap is defined extending upwardly from said first section, a first inner edge being defined extending upwardly from said bottom edge and being positioned opposite of said right edge of said first panel; and

a second panel being comprised of a cloth material, said second panel having a left edge, a right edge, a bottom edge and a top edge, said second panel having a second section thereof removed and extending inward from right edge and upwardly from said bottom edge of said second panel, a second inner edge being defined extending upwardly from said bottom edge of said second panel, said second inner edge being positioned opposite of said left edge of said second panel, wherein a second flap is defined extending upwardly from said second section, said first and second inner edges being joined together to form a unitary structure such that said first and second flaps overlap with each other.

2. The blanket assembly according to claim 1, further including each of said first and second sections extending less than ⅓ of a distance upwardly from said bottom edges to associated ones of said top edges.

3. The blanket assembly according to claim 1, further including a resiliently stretchable material being attached to and extending along said bottom edges of said first and second panels.

4. The blanket assembly according to claim 3, wherein said resiliently stretchable material extends from said bottom edges upwardly along said right edge of said first panel and left edge of said second panel.

5. A blanket assembly configured for being positioned on a mattress, said blanket assembly comprising:

a first panel being comprised of a cloth material, said first panel having a left edge, a right edge, a bottom edge and a top edge, said first panel having a first section thereof being removed and extending inward from said left edge and upwardly from said bottom edge of said first panel, wherein a first flap is defined extending upwardly from said first section, a first inner edge being defined extending upwardly from said bottom edge and being positioned opposite of said right edge of said first panel;

a second panel being comprised of a cloth material, said second panel having a left edge, a right edge, a bottom edge and a top edge, said second panel having a second section thereof removed and extending inward from right edge and upwardly from said bottom edge of said second panel, a second inner edge being defined extending upwardly from said bottom edge of said second panel, said second inner edge being positioned opposite of said left edge of said second panel, wherein a second flap is defined extending upwardly from said second section, said first and second inner edges being joined together to form a unitary structure such that said first and second flaps overlap with each other; and

each of said first and second sections extending less than ⅓ of a distance upwardly from said bottom edges to associated ones of said top edges;

a resiliently stretchable material being attached to and extending along said bottom edges of said first and second panels, said resiliently stretchable material extending from said bottom edges upwardly along said right edge of said first panel and left edge of said second panel.
