There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
  • The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
  • The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a front view of a drain cover assembly according to an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 2 is a bottom perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 3 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 4 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 5 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • FIG. 6 is a cross sectional view taken along line 6-6 of FIG. 5 of an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new drain device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.
  • As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6 , the drain cover assembly 10 generally comprises a sink 12 that has a bottom wall 14 and a drain 16 that is integrated into the bottom wall 14. The drain 16 is directed into an intake 18 of a garbage disposal 20 which is attached to the sink 12. The sink 12 may be a kitchen sink of any conventional design and the garbage disposal 20 may comprise an electric garbage disposal of any conventional design that would commonly be found in a household kitchen.
  • An annular ring 22 is provided which has a diameter that is sufficient to facilitate the annular ring 22 to be inserted into the drain 16 of the sink 12. The annular ring 22 has a top edge 24, a bottom edge 26 and an outside surface 28 extending between the top edge 24 and the bottom edge 26. The bottom edge 26 is spaced upwardly from the intake 18 of the garbage disposal 20 when the annular ring 22 is inserted into the drain 16 having the outside surface 28 being positioned adjacent to an interior surface 30 of the drain 16. The annular ring 22 has an inside diameter of approximately 7.6 cm and a height of approximately 16.0 mm.
  • A lip 32 extends around the annular ring 22 such that the lip 32 rests upon the bottom wall 14 of the sink 12 when the annular ring 22 is inserted into the drain 16. In this way the lip 32 inhibits the annular ring 22 from falling into the drain 16. The lip 32 is aligned with the top edge 24 of the annular ring 22 and the lip 32 is perpendicularly oriented with the outside surface 28 of the annular ring 22. Additionally, the lip 32 has a diameter of approximately 10.0 cm.
  • A funnel 34 is integrated into the annular ring 22 thereby facilitating the funnel 34 to drain the sink 12 when the annular ring 22 is inserted into the drain 16. The funnel 34 has a diameter that is sufficiently small to inhibit kitchen utensils 36 from passing through the funnel 34. In this way the funnel 34 inhibits the kitchen utensils 36 from falling into the garbage disposal 20. The funnel 34 has a perimeter edge 38 that is bonded to an inside surface 40 of the annular ring 22. Furthermore, the funnel 34 slopes downwardly between the perimeter edge 38 and a hole 42 in the funnel 34 thereby enhancing draining the sink 12. The funnel 34 comprises a plurality of sections 44 each extending between the perimeter edge 38 and the hole 42. Additionally, each of the plurality of sections 44 taper between the perimeter edge 38 and the hole 42 and the plurality of sections 44 are distributed around the hole 42.
  • In use, the annular ring 22 is inserted into the drain 16 such that the lip 32 rests on the bottom wall 14 of the sink 12. In this way the sink 12 can drain 16 through the funnel 34 while the funnel 34 inhibits kitchen utensils from falling in the garbage disposal 20. Additionally, the lip 32 inhibits the annular ring 22 and the funnel 34 from falling into the drain 16. The annular ring 22 is removable from the drain 16 at any time to service the garbage disposal 20 or for other purposes.
  • With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
  • Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
