Abstract

A top and bottom sheet with a built-in cup design that wraps around a small section of the foot and or head of a mattress, locking in the sheet(s) allowing both to remain firmly tucked in, limiting side to side movement and pulling loose from residential, hotel, and thin hospital mattresses.

  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION AND OTHER INFORMATION
  • Traditional bed sheets have always had difficulty staying in place while being used e.g. the traditional top sheet, especially if a person is an active sleeper. While making a bed with a traditional top sheet, the sheet is tucked in tight and secure using the standard hospital corner technique. After sleeping in a newly made bed, it becomes loose, un-tucked, and will have to unfortunately be remade again the next day. When the top sheet becomes loose, the lower section of the top sheet that was tucked in at the foot of the bed looses its ability to hold itself in its original intended position and has to be completely remade again. Hospital beds are especially prone to bed sheets becoming loose and un-tucked because of their thin mattresses and patient movement. This combination will slowly undo a freshly made bed.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • EZ Sheets design allows the top and bottom bed sheet to stay in the desired tightly tucked position throughout the night and remain in position making it easier to re-make the bed in the morning by just simply pulling the top sheet towards the head of the bed therefore eliminating unnecessary steps like re-making the corners. The cup design in the case of the top bed sheet allows it to fit over the foot of the mattress making it so the bottom of the bed does not become loose or un-tucked. After EZ Sheets are slipped over the mattress, they provide a snug and comfortable fit keeping the bottom corners of the top sheet at the foot of the mattress secure and the bottom sheet in place. The tucked-in technique (hospital corners) at the base of the mattress is the foundation of a correctly made bed. The EZ Sheets cup design takes the hospital corner technique a step further and provides longer lasting support, eliminating the need to re-tuck loose sheets after use. EZ Sheets revolutionary design extends beyond just home use. EZ Sheets mission is to eliminate unnecessary visits by nursing and hotels staff from entering rooms to simply remake a bed and expose occupants and themselves to possible viruses and reduce contact with people and their belongings.
  • According to the CDC:
  • Social distancing is crucial for preventing the spread of contagious illnesses such as COVID-19 (coronavirus). COVID-19 can spread through coughing, sneezing, and close contact. By minimizing the amount of close contact we have with others, we reduce our chances of catching the virus and spreading it to our loved ones and within our community.
  • Also, thin, flexible hospital mattresses are especially a problem when it comes to retaining a tightly made bed. EZ Sheets will help hotel and hospital staff reduce room visits and free up their time for more meaningful and safer duties. Since EZ Sheets have little or no elastic, ironing is a lot easer than other sheets that are constructed with large amounts of elastic.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • EZ Sheets are designed for both top and bottom sheets. The EZ Sheets top sheet has a built-in design that cups/wraps around the foot of the mattress and locks in the sheet, keeping it from shifting from sides to side and from coming loose and upwards towards the head of the bed when pulled while also locking the bottom sheet firmly in. The EZ Sheets bottom sheet has the cup design at one or both ends of the sheet to minimize movement preventing the corners from becoming loose or un-tucked unlike standard bottoms sheets that rely solely on the elastic corners and do not have a section of fabric like the EZ Sheets design sandwiched tightly between the box spring and mattress for support.

Claims (3)

The invention claimed is:
1. EZ Sheets (top and bottom) have a built-in cup design that wraps around a small section of the head and foot of the mattress as to keep the sheets snugly in place reducing the dependence on elastic.
2. EZ Sheets of claim 1 has a cup that completely wraps around a small section of the mattress and uses its design to lock-in the sheet(s) by not relying on the outdated tuck and fold technique (hospital corner) but rather uses a cup design to add resistance to pulling and shifting and locks in both top and bottom sheet.
3. EZ Sheets of claim 1 may or may not have sections/portions of the sheet that include elastic borders or elastic anywhere on the sheet as part of the design.
