FIG. 4 is a perspective phantom view of a neck slot and a flap of an embodiment of the disclosure. -
FIG. 5 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure showing a blanket being folded along a neck slot. -
FIG. 6 is a perspective in-use view of an embodiment of the disclosure. - With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new blanket device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by thereference numeral 10 will be described. - As best illustrated in
FIGS. 1 through 6 , theponcho blanket assembly 10 generally comprises ablanket 12 that is comprised of a thermally insulating material. Theblanket 12 is positionable over or around auser 14 for warming theuser 14. Theblanket 12 has aneck slot 16 extending therethrough for insertably receiving theuser 14's neck. In this way theuser 14 can wear theblanket 12 in the convention of a poncho. Moreover, theneck slot 16 is centrally positioned on theblanket 12 such that theblanket 12 covers the user's chest and the user's back when theblanket 12 is worn. - The
blanket 12 has afirst surface 18, asecond surface 20 and aperimeter edge 22 extending therebetween, and theperimeter edge 22 has afront side 24 and aback side 26. Theneck slot 16 extends through thefirst surface 18 and thesecond surface 20, and theneck slot 16 is oriented collinear with thefront side 24 and theback side 26 of theperimeter edge 22 of theblanket 12. Additionally, theneck slot 16 is centrally positioned between thefront side 24 and theback side 26, and theneck slot 16 has afirst edge 28 and asecond edge 30. - The
blanket 12 has a plurality offastener holes 32 each extending through thefirst surface 18 and thesecond surface 20. Thefastener holes 32 are spaced apart from each other and are distributed along thefirst edge 28 of theneck slot 16. Aflap 34 is coupled to theblanket 12 and theflap 34 is aligned with theneck slot 16 for covering theneck slot 16. Theflap 34 has aprimary edge 36, asecondary edge 38 and abottom surface 40. Theprimary edge 36 is coupled to thefirst surface 18 of theblanket 12. Moreover, theprimary edge 36 is aligned with and is coextensive with thesecond edge 30 of theneck slot 16 having theflap 34 extending across theneck slot 16. - A plurality of
fasteners 42 is provided and each of thefasteners 42 is coupled to theflap 34. Each of thefasteners 42 releasably engages theblanket 12 to retain theflap 34 over theneck slot 16. Each of thefasteners 42 is positioned on thebottom surface 40 of theflap 34 and each of thefasteners 42 is aligned with a respective one of thefastener holes 32. Moreover, each of thefasteners 42 is extendable through therespective fastener hole 32 for closing theflap 34 over theneck slot 16. Each of thefasteners 42 may comprise a button, a hook or any other type of releasable fastener that can engage therespective fastener hole 32. - In use, the
blanket 12 is wrapped around theuser 14 when theuser 14 wishes to keep warm. Additionally, theuser 14 can extend theuser 14's neck through theneck slot 16 in order to wear theblanket 12 in the convention of a poncho. In this way the user's arms are free to move around whileuser 14 enjoys the warmth of theblanket 12. Theflap 34 can be laid over theneck slot 16 and each of thefasteners 42 can be extended through therespective fastener hole 32 to cover theneck slot 16. In this way the wind or cold air is inhibited from passing through theneck slot 16 when theuser 14 is covered with theblanket 12. - With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
- Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
