Abstract

A deck chair, which includes a base frame, a seat frame horizontally affixed to the base frame at the top, a head frame pivoted to the seat frame and selectively positioned in one of a series of angular positions, a folding extension frame unit pivoted to the seat frame opposite to the head frame and selectively positioned in one of a series of angular positions, and a soft mattress covering the head frame, the seat frame and the folding extension frame unit.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a chair and more particularly, to a deck chair that can selectively be set in different positions for different purposes, or set in a received condition to reduce space occupation when not in use.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • In order to save storage space, a chair may be made folding collapsible. A commercial folding chair is known comprising a horizontal seat frame, a vertical back frame fixedly provided at the rear side of the seat frame, and two leg members pivotally arranged in a crossed status and respectively pivotally connected to the bottom side of the seat frame. This design of folding chair still occupies much storage space when collapsed because the vertical back frame and the horizontal seat frame are fixedly fastened together and not adjustable relative to each other.
  • There are also known commercial deck chairs that can selectively be set in different positions for different applications. However, these conventional deck chairs occupy much storage space when received.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is the main object of the present invention to provide a deck chair that can be set in a received condition to reduce space occupation when not in use. It is another object of the present invention to provide a deck chair that can selectively be set in different positions for different applications. To achieve these and other objects of the present invention, the deck chair comprises a base frame, a seat frame horizontally affixed to the base frame at the top, a head frame pivoted to the seat frame and selectively positioned in one of a series of angular positions, a first extension pivoted to the seat frame opposite to the head frame and selectively positioned in one of a series of angular positions, a second extension frame pivoted to the first extension frame opposite to the seat frame and selectively positioned in one of a series of angular positions, and a soft mattress covering the head frame, the seat frame and the extension frames.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is an extended view of a frame structure for a deck chair according to the present invention.
  • FIG. 2 is an elevational view showing the received status of a deck chair according to the present invention.
  • FIG. 3 is another elevational view of the present invention, showing an example of use of the deck chair.
  • FIG. 4 is still another elevational view of the present invention, showing another example of use of the deck chair.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • Referring to FIG. 1, the frame structure of a deck chair in accordance with the present invention is shown comprising a base frame 10, which is an open frame, a seat frame 20, which is a rectangular open frame fixedly connected in parallel to the base frame 10 at the top, a head frame 30, which is a rectangular open frame, a joint 31, which connects the head frame 30 to one side of the seat frame 20, allowing the head frame 30 to be turned relative to the seat frame 20 and positioned in one of a series of angular positions, and an extension frame unit 40 provided at one side of the seat frame 20 opposite to the head frame 30. The extension frame unit 40 comprises two extension frames 41, and two joints 42 that connect a first one of the two extension frames 41 to one side of the seat frame 20 opposite to the head frame 30 and the second one of the two extension frames 41 to one side of the first one of the two extension frames 41 opposite to the seat frame 20, allowing the extension frame unit 40 to be turned relative to the seat frame 20 and positioned in one of a series of angular positions and the second one of the two extension frames 41 to be turned relative to the first one of the two extension frames 41 and positioned in one of a series of angular positions.
  • Referring to FIGS. 2˜4 and FIG. 1 again, a soft mattress 50 is fastened to the frame structure of the deck chair, keeping the seat frame 20, the head frame 30 and the extension frame unit 40 embedded in the soft mattress 50.
  • Referring to FIGS. 2˜4 again, when installed, the user can turn the head frame 30 and the extension frames 41 relative to one another and relative to the seat frame 20 to change the shape of the soft mattress 50. FIG. 2 shows the deck chair set in a received status to reduce the storage space. FIG. 3 shows the deck chair set in a condition for enabling a person to sit thereon with the legs rested on the soft mattress 50 in an extended status. FIG. 4 shows the soft mattress 50 set in the fully extended horizontal position for enabling a person to sleep thereon.
  • Although a particular embodiment of the invention had been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
