Description
- The present invention relates to chaises, and particularly to a chair capable of being adjusted as a chaise which has both the function of seating and lying so as to provide the inconvenience to users.
- U.S. Pat. No. 5,950,259 discloses a lounge chair that includes an upper body support portion, an aperture extending through said upper body support portion, and a movable flap secured to the upper body support portion for selectively covering and uncovering the aperture. In particular, the flap can be repositioned to cover and uncover an aperture through a upper body support portion without having to get up out of the chair and without having to reposition the upper body support portion.
- U.S. Pat. No. 4,470,630 discloses a portable folding chair which is adaptable for use in an upright conventional sitting mode, in an inverted position as a back rest and in a collapsed position as a carrying device. The rear leg member and chair back are adjustable so that the rear leg member defines a comfortable headrest in the inverted backrest mode and a flap is provided which defines a lounging mat in the back rest mode which, in use, anchors the chair in place and in the collapsed carrying mode defines with the seat and back panels a covered carriage compartment.
- While all of the aforementioned prior art constructions are more than adequate for the basic purpose and function for which they have been specifically designed, they are uniformly deficient with respect to their failure to provide a simple, efficient, and practical pivoted leg assembly that can support the main lounge support panels at a variety of different angular orientations relative to one another, as well as the horizontal plane. While all of the prior art devices include at least one horizontally disposed support panel that coincides with the user's mid torso, there are many instances wherein it would be desirable to dispose the seat portion of the lounge chair at an angle other than the horizontal plane. As a consequence of the foregoing situation, there has existed a longstanding need for a new and improved type of adjustable angle chaise lounge construction that employs a unique leg support arrangement that permits the three main lounge panels to be disposed at a variety of angles relative to one another, and the provision of such a construction is a stated objective of the present invention.
- Accordingly, the primary object of the present invention is to provide a chair capable of being adjusted as a chaise which has both the function of seating and lying so as to provide the inconvenience to users.
- To achieve above objects, the present invention provides a chair capable of being adjusted as a chaise which comprises a cushion assembly including a first cushion, a second cushion and a third cushion; a first rotary shaft being used to pivotally connect the first cushion and the second cushion; a second rotary shaft being used to pivotally connect the second cushion and the third cushion; an adjusting unit installed below the first cushion; a chair support structure being installed between the first cushion, a second cushion and a third cushion; the chair support structure including an assisting support frame and a support frame; the assisting support frame installed between the first cushion and the third cushion; the support frame being installed below the third cushion. The first cushion is used as a pad for seating; the second cushion is used as a chair back rested by the back of the user; the third cushion is folded with respect to the second cushion to be located at a backside of the second cushion.
- The various objects and advantages of the present invention will be more readily understood from the following detailed description when read in conjunction with the appended drawing.
-
FIG. 1 is a schematic view of the chair capable of being adjusted as a chaise of the present invention. -
FIG. 2 shows a partial state of the chair capable of being adjusted as a chaise of the present invention. -

FIG. 6 is an enlarged schematic view of theFIG. 5 . -
FIG. 7 is a schematic view showing the expansion state of the chair capable of being adjusted as a chaise of the present invention. -
FIG. 8 is a schematic view showing a whole expansion state of the chair capable of being adjusted as a chaise according to the present invention. -
FIG. 9 is a schematic view showing the use of the present invention. - In order that those skilled in the art can further understand the present invention, a description will be provided in the following in details. However, these descriptions and the appended drawings are only used to cause those skilled in the art to understand the objects, features, and characteristics of the present invention, but not to be used to confine the scope and spirit of the present invention defined in the appended claims.
- A chair capable of being adjusted as a chaise according to the present invention is illustrated in
FIGS. 1 to 4 . The present invention has the following structure. - A
cushion assembly 10 includes afirst cushion 11, asecond cushion 12 and athird cushion 13. A firstrotary shaft 14 is used to connect thefirst cushion 11 and thesecond cushion 12. A secondrotary shaft 141 is used to connect thesecond cushion 12 and thethird cushion 13. Thus thefirst cushion 11 is rotatable with respect to thesecond cushion 12 and thesecond cushion 12 is rotatable with respect to thethird cushion 13. - A
chair support structure 20 is installed between thefirst cushion 11, asecond cushion 12 and athird cushion 13. In this embodiment, thechair support structure 20 has an adjustingunit 21. - The adjusting
unit 21 comprises alifting body 212 for lifting or descending thecushion assembly 10 of the chair, apress rod 121 for actuating thelifting body 212; and abase 213 with a plurality of wheels at a bottom of the base. - An assisting
support frame 22 is installed between thefirst cushion 11 and thethird cushion 13. - A
support frame 23 is installed below thethird cushion 13. - A
positioning unit 111 is installed at a bottom side of thefirst cushion 11. Thepositioning unit 111 comprises amovable stud 1111 and apress button 1112 for releasing thestud 1111. Astopper 112 is installed at the bottom of thefirst cushion 11. - As the present invention is used as a chair for seating, the
first cushion 11 is used as a pad for seating. Thesecond cushion 12 is used as a chair back rested by the back of the user. Thethird cushion 13 is folded with respect to thesecond cushion 12 to be located at a backside of thesecond cushion 12. Thesupport frame 23 is located below thefirst cushion 11 and confined by thestuds 1111 of thepositioning unit 111 by releasing thepress button 1112 to move the twostuds 1111 outwards, seeFIG. 4 . - Referring to
FIGS. 5 to 9 , the operation of making the present invention as a chaise. Thepress buttons 1112 are pressed and then thestuds 1111 are moved inwards. Thesecond cushion 12 is moved backwards slightly so that thesupport frames 23 are not confined by the twostuds 1111. Thethird cushion 13 is unfolded from thesecond cushion 12 to a flat position. Furthermore thesecond cushion 12 is also moved downwards so that thecushion assembly 10 is wholly expanded as illustrated inFIG. 8 . - Thus, when the chair is for seating, the chair can be located in the folded state. When the chair is as a chaise, the
first cushion 11,second cushion 12 andthird cushion 13 are expanded so that the user can lie upon the chaise. - The present invention is thus described, it will be obvious that the same may be varied in many ways. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the spirit and scope of the present invention, and all such modifications as would be obvious to one skilled in the art are intended to be included within the scope of the following claims.
