For one thing, it is somewhat bulky and adds a noticeable amount of weight to the suitcase. For another thing, the mouth wash sometimes seeps or leaks from the bottle, creating a bit of a mess inside the suitcase. And if the bottle is made of glass, it is subject to breakage.
- In general, it would be desirable to provide a better and more convenient method of packaging and distributing mouth wash.
- In accordance with a first embodiment of the invention, there is provided a new and improved method of packaging and distributing mouth wash. The new method includes preparing a batch of liquid mouth wash. The new method also includes dehydrating the batch of liquid mouth wash to reduce it to a dehydrated form. In addition, the new method includes packaging a quantity of the dehydrated mouth wash in a container suitable for distribution to a user.
- In accordance with another embodiment of the invention, there is provided a new and improved mouth wash product comprising a container suitable for distribution to a user and a quantity of dehydrated mouth wash located in the container.
- When the consumer is ready to use the product, he simply removes a serving of the dehydrated mouth wash from the container and puts it into a glass, adds water and stirs it a bit to obtain a glass of liquid mouth wash.
- For a better understanding of the present invention, together with other and further advantages and features thereof, reference is made to the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, the scope of the invention being pointed out in the appended claims.
- Referring to the drawings:
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a first type of container suitable for use with the present invention;
- FIG. 2 is a plan view of a second type of container suitable for use with the present invention; and
- FIG. 3 is a cross-sectional view taken along section line 3-3 of FIG. 2.
- The present invention relates to a convenient, lightweight, readily portable instant mouth wash product which is particularly useful for travelers and for situations where separate individual servings of mouth wash are desired. In accordance with a first embodiment of the invention, there is provided a new and novel method of packaging and distributing mouth wash. A first step in the method comprises preparing a batch of liquid mouth wash. This is done in the normal manner. A second step comprises dehydrating the batch of liquid mouth wash to a powdered form by removing most of the water and moisture therefrom. Any of the known food processing dehydration methods may be used for this purpose. The method used for producing powdered milk is particularly suitable. A third step in the method comprises packaging a quantity of the dehydrated mouth wash in a container suitable for distribution to a user or consumer.
- When the consumer is ready to use the product, he or she simply removes a serving of the dehydrated mouth wash from the container and puts it into a glass or cup, adds water and stirs it sufficiently to dissolve the powdered mouth wash. This returns the mouth wash to a liquid state and it is ready for use.
- FIG. 1 shows a first type of container suitable for use with the present invention. As there shown, the container may take the form of a small moisture-
resistant bottle 10 of sufficient size to hold several servings of the dehydrated mouth wash.Bottle 10 is filled with the powdered mouth wash and a removable moisture-resistant lid orcap 12 is screwed onto the top ofbottle 10. - FIG. 2 shows a different type of container that is suitable for use with the present invention. As shown in FIG. 2, the container may take the form of a small moisture-
resistant packet 20 which is sized to hold a single serving of the dehydrated mouth wash. As indicated in the cross-sectional view of FIG. 3, theedges 22 ofpacket 20 are sealed to provide an inner chamber for holding the powdered mouth wash which is indicated byreference number 24. - The single-serving packet form of container shown in FIG. 2 is particularly useful in those situations where separate individual servings of mouth wash are desirable. This would include, for example, hotels, hospitals, restaurants, commercial passenger airplanes, cruise ships and the like.
- In accordance with a second embodiment of the invention, there is provided a new and novel mouth wash product for distributing mouth wash to a consumer. This mouth wash product comprises a container suitable for distribution to a user. This mouth wash product further comprises a quantity of dehydrated mouth wash located in the container. The dehydrated mouth wash is preferably in a powdered form and the container is preferably a moisture-resistant container. The container may take, for example, the multi-serving form shown in FIG. 1 or the single serving form shown in FIG. 2.
- While there have been described what are at present considered to be preferred embodiments of this invention, it will be obvious to those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications may be made therein without departing from the invention and it is, therefore, intended to cover all such changes and modifications as come within the true spirit and scope of the invention.
